Statins induce monocytic differentiation in acute myeloid leukemia cells through the KLF4/DPYSL2A axis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Statins, identified via the Comparative Toxicogenomics Database, promote monocytic differentiation and apoptosis in non‐APL AML cells by upregulating DPYSL2A through a KLF4‐dependent pathway. Mevalonate supplementation reversed these effects, indicating involvement of the mevalonate pathway.

Recreating Historic European Spindle Spinning

open access: yesEXARC Journal, 2021
Spinning is a vital step in the production of textiles, whereby fibres are drawn out (drafted) and twisted together to make thread. In the present day, several culturally unique types of spinning are recognised, such as the thigh-rolling technique of ...

The Production of cotton yarns with open-end spinning with excellent quality and cost

open access: yesJournal of Architecture, Art & Humanistic Science, 2020
Open end spinning is one of the final spinning techniques used in the production of cotton yarn, and is characterized by increased production and reduced economic cost, and due to the low spread of open-end yarn technology, and limited production despite

Large Merger Recoils and Spin Flips From Generic Black-Hole Binaries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We report the first results from evolutions of a generic black-hole binary, i.e. a binary containing unequal mass black holes with misaligned spins. Our configuration, which has a mass ratio of 2:1, consists of an initially non-spinning hole orbiting a ...

Microbial profile of the appendix niche in acute appendicitis: a novel sampling approach

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study utilized a novel sampling method, ERAT (i.e. endoscopic retrograde appendicitis treatment)‐guided lumen aspiration, to obtain samples from the appendix, and shotgun metagenomic sequencing was performed for in situ characterization of the appendix microbiome in patients with acute appendicitis.

Design of tracking algorithms for spinning single-patch antenna GPS receivers

open access: yesDianzi Jishu Yingyong, 2019
A GPS tracking algorithm is studied and applied to locate a spinning vehicle on which a single-patch antenna is mounted. This algorithm is able to track global positioning system(GPS) signals with intermittent availability at a lower rotational speed ...

Spin Dynamics and Spin Transport [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Superconductivity, 2005
Spin-orbit (SO) interaction critically influences electron spin dynamics and spin transport in bulk semiconductors and semiconductor microstructures. This interaction couples electron spin to dc and ac electric fields. Spin coupling to ac electric fields allows efficient spin manipulating by the electric component of electromagnetic field through the ...

Structural and functional characterization of chitinase from carnivorous plant Drosera adelae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A class I chitinase from the carnivorous plant Drosera adelae was expressed and purified using a yeast system, revealing high enzymatic activity. Structural analyses of the catalytic and chitin‐binding domains identified key tyrosine residues involved in substrate binding, offering insights into the enzyme's adaptation for insect digestion.

Diffusion‐based size determination of solute particles: a method adapted for postsynaptic proteins

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We present a diffusion‐based approach for measuring the size of macromolecules and their complexes, and demonstrate its use on postsynaptic proteins. The method requires fluorescein‐labelled protein samples, a microfluidic device that maintains laminar flow for said samples, a microscope recording the emitted fluorescent signals, and an analytic ...
