Abstract Ensuring security and quality of supply on small ’island’ pover systems is costly and difficult. Consequently, there is an ever-present motivation to maintain and improve plant response to losses of generation infeed. This paper reports work which enhances conventional thermal plant’s reserve capability to improve system performance and cost.
