After hydrogen charging (AHC) of the high-entropy alloy (HEA) AlCoCrFeNi2.1, lots of slip bands and nanotwins appeared in the face-centered cubic (FCC) phase. In body-centered cubic (BCC) phase, dense short-range stacking faults (SFs) appeared around the

Spinodal decomposition and the Tomita sum rule [PDF]
The scaling properties of a phase-ordering system with a conserved order parameter are studied. The theory developed leads to scaling functions satisfying certain general properties including the Tomita sum rule. The theory also gives good agreement with numerical results for the order parameter scaling function in three dimensions.

Spinodal decomposition of reactively sputtered (V0.64Al0.36)0.49N0.51 thin films
We investigate the decomposition mechanisms of metastable cubic (c-)(V$_{0.64}$Al$_{0.36}$)$_{0.49}$N$_{0.51}$ thin films, grown by reactive high power pulsed magnetron sputtering, by combination of structural and compositional characterization at the ...

Cu-rich Precipitates Structural Forms During Decomposition of Alloys in Fe-Cu System
Structural forms of copper during decomposition of supersaturated solid solutions in the Fe-Cu system are analyzed in thermodynamic terms. First-principles methods are used to calculate free energies of BCC, 9R and FCC phases of copper at themperature 0 ...

Monte Carlo Simulations for Spinodal Decomposition
This paper addresses the phenomenon of spinodal decomposition for the Cahn-Hilliard equation. Namely, we are interested in why most solutions to the Cahn-Hilliard equation which start near a homogeneous equilibrium u 0 j ¯ in the spinodal interval ...

Spinodal Decomposition in Binary Systems
Spinodal decomposition is a process of unmixing, i.e., spatial separation of species, which takes place in thermodynamically unstable solutions, solid or liquid. A phase diagram of a spinodally decomposing system, which consists of different species, has

High-content ductile coherent nanoprecipitates achieve ultrastrong high-entropy alloys
High entropy alloys usually emphasize equiatomic compositions, which restrict the compositions available to induce strengthening via precipitation. Here the authors use spinodal decomposition in a five-element alloy to obtain high content nanophases and ...

Vibrational entropy of spinodal decomposition in FeCr [PDF]
Inelastic neutron-scattering spectra were measured on stoichiometric Fe0.50Cr0.50 prepared as a body-centered-cubic (bcc) solid solution, and after increasing amounts of chemical unmixing on the bcc lattice induced by annealing the solid solution at 773 ...

Liet al. study degradation in organic photovoltaics from a morphological perspective. They find that donor and acceptor phases undergo excessive demixing via spinodal decomposition resulting in a reduction of charge generation.
