Interplay of Crystallization and Amorphous Spinodal Decomposition During Thermal Annealing of Organic Photoactive Layers. [PDF]
Phase‐Field simulations are carried out to elucidate nanomorphology formation mechanisms in organic photoactive layers under thermal annealing. The predicted bulk heterojunction structures are in excellent agreement with Scanning Electron Microscopy measurements.

Exploration of spinodal decomposition in multi-principal element alloys (MPEAs) using CALPHAD modeling [PDF]
Researchers attributed the orderly arranged nanoscale phases observed in many multi-principal element alloys (MPEAs) to spinodal/spinodal-mediated phase transformation pathways.

Significantly fast spinodal decomposition and inhomogeneous nanoscale martensitic transformation in Ti–Nb–O alloys [PDF]
The β phase spinodal decomposition during continuous cooling in Ti‒Nb‒O alloys is investigated by the phase-field method. Addition of only a few at.%O to Ti‒23Nb (at.%) alloy remarkably increases the driving force of the β phase spinodal decomposition ...

The deformation behavior of δ-ferrite in an aged austenitic stainless-steel weld was investigated to obtain insights on the contribution of aging-induced nanofeatures, such as spinodal decomposition and G-phase precipitation, to aging embrittlement.

Quantum spinodal decomposition [PDF]
We study the process of spinodal decomposition in a scalar quantum field theory that is quenched from an equilibrium disordered initial state at $T_i > T_f$ to a final state at $T_f \approx 0$. The process of formation and growth of correlated domains is studied in a Hartree approximation.

Influence of Yttrium on the Thermal Stability of Ti-Al-N Thin Films [PDF]
Ti(1-x)Al(x)N coated tools are commonly used in high-speed machining, where the cutting edge of an end-mill or insert is exposed to temperatures up to 1100 degrees C.

Microstructure change of duplex stainless steels after thermal aging and electron beam irradiation
Duplex stainless steel has been used as a structural material for light water reactors. It is well known that the thermal aging during operation causes spinodal decomposition to Cr-rich (α') phase and Fe-rich (α) phase in the ferrite phase, resulting in ...

Beyond Solid Solution High‐Entropy Alloys: Tailoring Magnetic Properties via Spinodal Decomposition
Since its first emergence in 2004, the high‐entropy alloy (HEA) concept has aimed at stabilizing single‐ or dual‐phase multi‐element solid solutions through high mixing entropy.

Pattern Formation by Spinodal Decomposition in Ternary Lead-Free Sn-Ag-Cu Solder Alloy
In comparison to Pb-based solders which have a toxic effect, the tin-silver-copper (SAC) family of alloys have relatively strong reliability and are widely used in the electronics industry.
