Suprascapular nerve compression at the spinoglenoid notch

Muscle & Nerve, 1990
AbstractA 52‐year‐old man developed isolated atrophy of the infraspinatus muscle. The suprascapular nerve was compressed at the spinoglenoid notch by a hypertrophied inferior transverse scapular ligament.

Enlarged spinoglenoid notch veins causing suprascapular nerve compression

Skeletal Radiology, 2003
To report the magnetic resonance (MR) imaging findings of enlarged veins in the spinoglenoid notch as a cause of suprascapular nerve compression.Six patients presented to MR imaging for evaluation of chronic shoulder pain. Clinical information and MR imaging studies were reviewed.

Clinical evaluation and treatment of spinoglenoid notch ganglion cysts

Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, 2002
Spinoglenoid notch cysts were identified by magnetic resonance imaging in 73 patients. Posterosuperior labral tears were identified in 65 patients who had spinoglenoid notch cysts. Patient follow-up was available on 88% of patients at a mean of 20.5 months after treatment. There were 52 men and 11 women, with a mean age of 39 years (range, 19-76 years).

Spontaneous Resolution of a Spinoglenoid Notch Ganglion

Orthopedics, 2009
The case: A 50-year-old man initially presented with right shoulder pain and difficulty lifting his arm to chest level. The patient reported no history of trauma. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed (Figure 1 ), and conservative treatment was ineffective.

Injury of the Suprascapular Nerve at the Spinoglenoid Notch

The American Journal of Sports Medicine, 1998
From 1985 to 1996, we observed 38 cases of isolated atrophy of the infraspinatus muscle in athletes; all were involved in volleyball at a competitive level. There were 20 men and 18 women with a mean age of 26 years (range, 15 to 27). At the time of the first examination, 35 of these athletes had no pain and were treated with exercises to strengthen ...

Comparison of Spinoglenoid Versus Suprascapular Notch Approaches for Ultrasound-Guided Distal Suprascapular Nerve Blocks for Shoulder Pain: A Prospective Randomized Trial.

Pain Physician
BACKGROUND Distal suprascapular nerve blocks (SSNB) can be performed at the level of the suprascapular notch (the preferred site) or at the level of the spinoglenoid notch.

Entrapment of the suprascapular nerve at the spinoglenoid notch

Annals of Neurology, 1982
AbstractA 58‐Year‐old fencing instructor developed selective denervation of the infraspinatus muscle. It was found to be caused by entrapment of the suprascapular nerve at the spinoglenoid notch due to a hypertrophied inferior transverse scapular ligament.

Osteoid Osteoma of the Spinoglenoid Notch Mimicking Cervical Radiculopathy

PM&R, 2011
Osteoid osteomas are benign skeletal neoplasms that are most commonly seen in persons who are in their 20s and 30s [1]. Characteristically, patients report having severe focal pain that worsens at night and with activity and that is relieved by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Osteoid osteomas can occur in any bone.

Isolated suprascapular nerve injury below the spinoglenoid notch after SLAP repair

Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, 2009
Suprascapular nerve neuropathy is frequently reported as being caused by a cyst of the spinoglenoid notch of the scapula. It can be also caused by a complication of open surgical procedures requiring dissection of the posterior shoulder joint. The transglenoid suture technique for the Bankart repair can injure the suprascapular nerve if the drilling is
