Spinoza on Humans as Social Animals

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Philosophy, EarlyView.
Abstract Spinoza repeatedly suggests that humans are set apart from other animals by their rational and moral abilities. Yet he disparages the traditional definition of the human as a ‘rational animal’ and several of his other views suggest that these abilities are not sufficient by themselves to characterize human nature.

Uniqueness of gravitational constant at low energies from the connection between spin-2 and spin-0 sectors

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The fact that graviton propagator contains not only one but two tensorial components excludes a unique definition of the running behavior of the gravitational constant, while at low energies gravitation is characterized solely by Newton’s constant.

Life and Death in Schelling's Philosophy of Nature

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Philosophy, EarlyView.
Abstract F. W. J. Schelling's philosophy of nature (Naturphilosophie) has received significant renewed interest and reappraisal. This research has – like the majority of work in the philosophy of nature and the history of science more generally – focused on Schelling's understanding of life, but eschews any discussion of death.

Difference and the Liberation of Sufficient Reason

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Philosophy, EarlyView.
Abstract The Principle of Sufficient Reason (PSR) holds that every event and entity can be explained by a sufficient reason or cause.

Genomic and proteomic insights into hidradenitis suppurativa

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
A dual pathogenic model of HS involving both epithelial dysfunction and systemic inflammation is supported. The HLA‐DRA association hints at autoimmune overlap, but the proteomic signature which is dominated by innate immune mediators favours an autoinflammatory classification, which may guide future therapeutic strategies and patient stratification ...

Enlightened False Consciousness: Why Climate Consciousness Is Not Followed by Action

open access: yesSociology Lens, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The article discusses enlightened false consciousness by focusing on the denial of the climate crisis. It approaches this idea by first emphasizing the role of emotions in connection with actions, arguing that a classical rationalist perspective falls short of grasping this. The article is divided into four parts.
