Asymptotic extraction approach for antennas in a multilayered spherical media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
An efficient algorithm is introduced to enhance the convergence of dyadic Green's functions (DGF) in a layered spherical media where asymptotic expressions have been developed. The formulated expressions involve an infinite series of spherical eigenmodes

Concentric circles and spiral configurations for large correlator arrays in radio astronomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Aperture synthesis arrays are commonly used in radio astronomy to take images of radio point sources, with the planned Square Kilometre Array (SKA) being the most common example.

Fabric equiangular spiral antenna [PDF]

open access: yes2006 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2006
In this paper, a fabric equiangular spiral has been shown to perform comparably to a conventional copper-clad laminate spiral of the same design. Although the fabric antenna was supported by a fairly lossy substrate, and the conductivity of the arms is less than that of copper, the effects of these loss mechanisms appear to be negligible.

Reconstruction of the Far-Field Pattern of Volumetric AUTs from a Reduced Set of Near-Field Samples Collected along a Planar Spiral with a Uniform Step

open access: yesSensors, 2021
An efficient near-to-far-field transformation (NTFFT) technique, wherein the near-field (NF) measurements are acquired along a planar spiral with a uniform step to make the control of the involved positioners easier, is developed in this article.

Review on Ultra-Wideband Phased Array Antennas

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Ultra-wideband (UWB) phased array antennas are essential for radar, communication, and Electronic Warfare (EW) applications. Systems can operate over wide-band coverage. The high gain systems require wide-band, wide-angle scanning, good radiation pattern,

Near-Field to Far-Field Transformation Techniques with Spiral Scannings: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2014
An overview of the near-field-far-field (NF-FF) transformation techniques with innovative spiral scannings, useful to derive the radiation patterns of the antennas commonly employed in the modern wireless communication systems, is provided in this paper.

Tunable negative permeability in a three-dimensional superconducting metamaterial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We report on highly tunable radio frequency (rf) characteristics of a low-loss and compact three dimensional (3D) metamaterial made of superconducting thin film spiral resonators. The rf transmission spectrum of a single element of the metamaterial shows

Sequentially rotated loop and spiral antenna arrays with a coplanar C‐figured feedline

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2023
Using the moment method, two array antennas are investigated to reveal the effects of different radiation elements on the array characteristics. Each array comprises four elements sequentially rotated by 90° and excited by a coplanar C‐figured feedline ...

Optimization of photomixers and antennas for continuous-wave terahertz emission [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We have studied terahertz emission from interdigitated finger photomixers coupled to planar antenna structures. Using both pulsed and continuous-wave excitation, polarization measurements reveal that the antenna design dominates the properties of the
