Spiral Arterial Structures in the Fetal Placenta
SummaryThe spiral nature of the primary villus stem vessels has been described for the first time. The underlying mechanism suggests a trophic response to steroid hormones, comparable to the effect produced on vessels of the uterus and ovary. This spiral pattern provides a gradient of pressure which may slow fetal circulation through the placenta and ...

Classification of Pressure Gradient of Human Common Carotid Artery and Ascending Aorta on the Basis of Age and Gender [PDF]
The current work is done to see which artery has more chance of having cardiovascular diseases by measuring value of pressure gradient in the common carotid artery (CCA) and ascending aorta according to age and gender. Pressure gradient is determined in the CCA and ascending aorta of presumed healthy volunteers, having age between 10 and 60 years.

Animal models of fetal growth restriction: Considerations for translational medicine. [PDF]
Fetal growth restriction (FGR) is the failure of a fetus to reach its full genetic growth potential. It occurs in up to 8% of pregnancies, and after premature birth is the second leading cause of infant mortality and morbidity.

Analysis of left ventricular behaviour in diastole by means of finite element method [PDF]
The human left ventricle in diastole can be modelled as a passive structure with incremental internal pressure change being considered as the load. Recent developments in engineering stress analysis provide techniques for predicting the behaviour of ...

Interleaved spiral cine coronary artery velocity mapping [PDF]
Navigator-echo controlled interleaved spiral cine coronary-artery velocity maps were acquired in eight free-breathing volunteers. Good quality data were achieved in all subjects with phasic flow being clearly demonstrated. The improved efficiency of spiral k-space coverage compared to that of more conventional spin-warp techniques resulted in a mean ...
