State of the art: iterative CT reconstruction techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Owing to recent advances in computing power, iterative reconstruction (IR) algorithms have become a clinically viable option in computed tomographic (CT) imaging. Substantial evidence is accumulating about the advantages of IR algorithms over established

Tracheobronchial Angle Measurements in Children: An Anthropometric Retrospective Study With Multislice Computed Tomography [PDF]

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Otorhinolaryngology, 2017
Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate if any change exists in the values of tracheal bifurcation angles (subcarinal angle [SCA] and interbronchial angle [IBA]), right and left bronchial angles (RBA and LBA) in different pediatric age ...

Automated detection of lung nodules in low-dose computed tomography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A computer-aided detection (CAD) system for the identification of pulmonary nodules in low-dose multi-detector computed-tomography (CT) images has been developed in the framework of the MAGIC-5 Italian project. One of the main goals of this project is to

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Early lung cancer detection using spiral computed tomography and positron emission tomography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
RATIONALE: Lung cancer screening using computed tomography (CT) is effective in detecting lung cancer in early stages. Concerns regarding false-positive rates and unnecessary invasive procedures have been raised.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Management of ‘labial’ type of dens invaginatus: A rare case report

open access: yesJournal of Oral Biology and Craniofacial Research, 2016
Dens invaginatus is a developmental anomaly resulting in an infolding of the enamel organ into the dental papilla prior to calcification of the dental tissues. The invagination predisposes the tooth for the development of dental caries.
