The introduction of baryon string in the model of spiral galaxies structure [PDF]
It proposes a new alternative approach to explain the flat spectrum of the velocity for stars orbital motion on the periphery of spiral galaxies. In particular, that velocity significant excess of speed calculated according to the virial theorem.

Spiral Galaxies as Chiral Objects? [PDF]
Spiral galaxies show axial symmetry and an intrinsic 2D-chirality. Environmental effects can influence the chirality of originally isolated stellar systems and a progressive loss of chirality can be recognised in the Hubble sequence. We point out a preferential modality for genetic galaxies as in microscopic systems like aminoacids, sugars or neutrinos.

PKS 1830-211: A Face-On Spiral Galaxy Lens [PDF]
We present new Hubble Space Telescope images of the gravitational lens PKS 1830-211, which allow us to characterize the lens galaxy and update the determination of the Hubble constant from this system.

Signatures of Galaxy-Cluster Interactions: Spiral Galaxy Rotation Curve Asymmetry, Shape, and Extent [PDF]
The environmental dependencies of the characteristics of spiral galaxy rotation curves are studied in this work. We use our large, homogeneously collected sample of 510 cluster spiral galaxy rotation curves to test the claim that the shape of a galaxy's ...

Spiral galaxies in the SAURON survey [PDF]
AbstractWe discuss some recent integral field spectroscopy using the SAURON instrument of a sample consisting of 24 early-type spirals, part of the SAURON Survey, and 18 late-type spirals. Using 2-dimensional maps of their stellar radial velocity, velocity dispersion, and absorption line strength, it is now much easier to understand the nature of ...

Isolated Galaxies versus Interacting Pairs with MaNGA
We present preliminary results of the spectral analysis on the radial distributions of the star formation history in both a galaxy merger and a spiral isolated galaxy observed with MaNGA.

Radio AGN in spiral galaxies [PDF]
Radio AGN in the nearby Universe are more likely to be found in galaxies with early-type morphology, the detection rate in spiral or late-type galaxies (LTGs) being around an order of magnitude lower. We combine the mJy Imaging VLBA Exploration at 20 cm (mJIVE-20) survey with the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, to study the relatively rare population of AGN ...

SpArcFiRe: Enhancing Spiral Galaxy Recognition Using Arm Analysis and Random Forests
Automated quantification of galaxy morphology is necessary because the size of upcoming sky surveys will overwhelm human volunteers. Existing classification schemes are inadequate because (a) their uncertainty increases near the boundary of classes and ...
