Wound Geometry Determines Whether Aligned‐Fiber Scaffolds Accelerate or Impede Diabetic Wound Healing: A Biased Random Walk Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Wound closure is governed by geometry‐orientation coupling: aligned fibers speed migration along their axis but hinder perpendicular advance. In vivo diabetic wound experiments with composition‐matched fibrin, combined with an anisotropic diffusion (biased random‐walk) model, quantify this trade‐off and generate a healing landscape.

Anti‐Slip Material‐Based Strategies and Approaches

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review highlights the principle mechanisms of slipping at the microscale, linking contact mechanics with a friction behavior model for surface interfaces. Main strategies to develop anti‐slip properties to the surfaces are discussed alongside standardized testing approaches.

Rapid Remodeling of the Human Gut Microbiome in Response to Short‐Term Animal Product Restriction and Associations with Host Molecular Phenotypes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A real‐world model of structured animal product restriction practiced for religious reasons reveals the dynamic adaptability of the human gut microbiome to dietary change and uncovers reductions in diversity and rare taxa loss. Integrated microbiome, metabolomic, and proteomic analyses uncover coordinated taxonomic and molecular shifts and identify ...

EPIPHANY PHILOSOPHERS: AFTERWORD

open access: yesZygon, 2019
Being a theist makes a difference, but not so much to what propositions we assent to, nor to an expanded ontology of spiritual entities. Rather, it is concerned with what commitments we enter into, and involves a participatory engagement with a broader ...

Frequency of Spiritual/Religious Practices in Polish Patients with Chronic Diseases: Validation of the Polish Version of the SpREUK-P Questionnaire

open access: yesReligions, 2014
In order to measure a wide spectrum of organized and private religious, spiritual, existential and philosophical practices, the SpREUK-P (SpREUK is the German language acronym of “Spirituality/Religiosity and Coping with Illness”) questionnaire was ...

Luther’s Mysticism, Pietism, and Contemplative Spirituality

open access: yes, 2020
To ask, “Why church?” certainly stirs multilayered theological, missional, ecclesial, and pastoral reflection. The question also has spiritual ramifications.

Spiritual Coping and Well-Functioning Among Psychologists

open access: yes, 2001
The work of psychologists can be stressful and demanding, which calls for an understanding of how psychologists cope with the stress of their work and how they prevent distress by establishing habits of well-functioning. Previous studies on psychologists’

Respiratory‐Limbic Coupling via a Thalamic Circuit Alleviates Anxiety

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study delineates a conserved preBötCGlu→PVT→CeA circuit that gates anxiety and respiration. Activation of this circuit is anxiolytic and respiratory‐stabilizing, while its inhibition has the opposite effect. Mechanistically, PVT exerts its anxiolytic action via a disinhibitory microcircuit: its inputs preferentially target CeL GABAergic neurons ...

Dilute but Dense – Reversible Crosslinking Enables Water‐Rich (Bio)polymer Condensates

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Reversible crosslinking between two types of (bio)polymers drives liquid–liquid phase separation even in good solvent. The arrangement of binding motifs controls condensate formation and density, and internal network structure. Simulations and theory reveal a closed‐loop coexistence phase diagram at very low monomer concentrations and re‐entrant ...
