Numerical study on the churning power loss of spiral bevel gears at splash lubrication system

Lubrication Science
AbstractIn order to predict the spiral bevel gear churning power loss, based on the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method, the computational model for the splash lubrication of the spiral bevel gear pair is established and validated by experiments.

Analyses on the Splashing Parameters of High-Speed Oil Impacted a Wall in Jet Lubrications

2009
A new model for the free jet breakup is derived from the TAB theory to determine the size of breakup in the energy conservation law. In addition, the splash behavior of droplets after impingement is determined by the newly proposed model, which incorporates both the size and the number models based on Wu Ziniu’s phenomenological theory.

Splash lubrication for an orthogonal face gear using numerical investigation integrating image processing

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part J: Journal of Engineering Tribology
With practical physical immersion depth as their joint, the relations between the oil distribution characteristics and the associated no-load power losses for splash-lubricated orthogonal face gears are explored and quantified in this paper. Firstly, a theoretical analytical model is proposed to estimate the churning losses of an isolated face gear ...

Migration and Evolution of Metallic Particles in an Intermediate Reducer under Splash Lubrication Conditions

To systematically clarify the migration and evolution mechanisms of metallic particles in the solid-liquid-gas three-phase flow field of a helicopter intermediate reducer under splash lubrication, this study innovatively develops a three-phase numerical model based on the CFD-DPM framework, and establishes a high-precision oil-churning visualization ...
