Splenectomy and experimental infection of mice by a virulent strain of trypanosoma cruzi

open access: yesRevista da Sociedade Brasileira de Medicina Tropical, 1969
Splenectomy seems to increase susceptibility of mice to a jurther infection with a virulent strain of Trypanosoma cruzi. Parasitemia increases with splenectomy and the sooner the infection follows the operation, the greater the parasitemia. The mortality

A multicentre analysis of efficacy, safety and molecular response correlates of fostamatinib in warm autoimmune haemolytic anaemia and Evans syndrome

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Fostamatinib had 46% durable response, with 73% steroid reduction, in this multicentre retrospective study of refractory wAIHA/ES. Hypertension, gastrointestinal (GI) distress and neutropenia occurred in 23%. Only one patient required drug discontinuation and one patient dose reduction.

A computational model-based study on the feasibility of predicting post-splenectomy thrombosis using hemodynamic metrics

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology
For portal hypertensive patients with splenomegaly and hypersplenism, splenectomy is an effective surgery to relieve the complications. However, patients who have undergone splenectomy often suffer from portal venous system thrombosis, a sequela that ...
