Clinical History: A 53-year-old man patient is admitted to the hospital due to skin lesions in both legs suspicious of erythema nodosum. He presented a history of high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus type II, and dislypidemia. A blood test revealed elevated liver enzymes. Abdominal US and MR were performed.

NF-κB deregulation in splenic marginal zone lymphoma
Splenic marginal zone lymphoma is a rare mature B-cell malignancy involving the spleen, bone marrow and blood. Over the past years, the rapid expansion of sequencing technologies allowing the genome-wide assessment of genomic, epigenetic and ...

Eleven spleens removed surgically from patients with malignant lymphoma were compared according to gross, histologic, and cytologic appearances with spleens surgically removed from patients with nonmalignant disorders. The gross comparison indicates that the lymphomatous spleens were 10 to 20 times heavier than the nonmalignant spleens.

Splenic marginal zone lymphoma
Best Practice & Research Clinical Haematology, 2017Splenic marginal zone lymphoma (SMZL) is an indolent small B-cell lymphoma involving the spleen and bone marrow characterized by a micronodular tumoral infiltration that replaces the preexisting lymphoid follicles and shows marginal zone differentiation as a distinctive finding. SMZL cases are characterized by prominent splenomegaly and bone marrow and

Splenic lymphoma: differentiation from splenic cyst with ultrasonography
Abdominal Imaging, 2001Lymphoma can be nearly anechoic and mimic a cyst on ultrasonography (US). To investigate whether this phenomenon occurs at the level of the spleen, we analyzed the US findings of 38 cases of splenic lymphoma and 16 cases of splenic cyst.(1) With regard to shape, echogenicity of the lesion, and mode of posterior echo, there was no difference between ...

Tropical Splenic Lymphoma: Splenic Marginal Zone Lymphoma or Distinct Entity?.
Blood, 2006Abstract In the early 1990’s we described a series of patients from Kumasi, Ghana, West Africa who appeared to have a distinctive lymphoproliferative disorder (LPD) characterised by massive splenomegaly and lymphocytosis with characteristic morphology. At the time this was termed tropical splenic lymphoma (TSL).

Splenic Marginal Zone Cell Lymphoma
The American Journal of Surgical Pathology, 1992We describe four female patients with primary splenic low-grade non-Hodgkin's B-cell lymphomas with the morphology and immunophenotype of splenic marginal zone lymphocytes. The patients presented with splenomegaly, anemia, and weight loss. The bone marrow was involved in all four cases.

Primary non-Hodgkin's splenic lymphoma
Clinical Radiology, 1998To describe the imaging, clinical and pathological features of primary splenic lymphoma using a strict definition.Of 21 cases, plain films were available in nine, sonograms in 10 and CT in 16. We categorized the spleen as either normal, enlarged with no focal defects (type 1), studded with miliary masses (type 2), containing multifocal masses of ...

Splenic lymphoma with circulating villous lymphocytes/splenic marginal-zone lymphoma.
Seminars in hematology, 1999Splenic lymphoma with villous lymphocytes (SLVL) represents a low-grade B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) that histologically is indistinguishable from splenic marginal-zone lymphoma (SMZL). Characteristic features of SLVL are splenomegaly, moderate lymphocytosis, nodular and intrasinusoidal pattern of bone marrow infiltration, serum monoclonal band,
