Optical properties of two-dimensional magnetoelectric point scattering lattices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We explore the electrodynamic coupling between a plane wave and an infinite two-dimensional periodic lattice of magneto-electric point scatterers, deriving a semi-analytical theory with consistent treatment of radiation damping, retardation, and energy ...

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Lagrange Model for the Chiral Optical Properties of Stereometamaterials

open access: yes, 2010
We employ a general Lagrange model to describe the chiral optical properties of stereometamaterials. We derive the elliptical eigenstates of a twisted stacked split-ring resonator, taking phase retardation into account. Through this approach, we obtain a

Backscattering in silicon microring resonators: a quantitative analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Silicon microring resonators very often exhibit resonance splitting due to backscattering. This effect is hard to quantitatively and predicatively model.

Circularly Polarized Split Ring Resonator Loaded Slot Antenna

open access: yesAdvanced Electromagnetics, 2018
A compact circularly polarized printed slot antenna operating at 2.45 GHz is reported. The antenna consists of a pair of rotated square split ring resonators (SRR) inside a rectangular slot etched on the ground plane of an FR-4 dielectric substrate.

Transmission line metamaterials based on strongly coupled split ring/complementary split ring resonators

open access: yesOptics Express, 2017
We experimentally studied the coupling between a double split ring resonator and a complementary split ring resonator. The greatest coupling occurs when the two resonators are separated by the average ring radius, and the dimensionless coupling is as large as 0.1, allowing a novel planar metamaterial based on this hybrid structure.

Prediction Model for Etiologic Differentiation of Isolated Vestibular Syndrome in Emergency Settings

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to develop and validate a predictive model for differentiating central from peripheral etiologies in patients with isolated vestibular syndrome (VS). Methods In this multicenter retrospective cohort study, 506 patients with isolated VS from five hospitals were divided into derivation (n = 301) and validation (n = 205)

Combined Brillouin light scattering and microwave absorption study of magnon-photon coupling in a split-ring resonator/YIG film system

open access: yes, 2016
Microfocused Brillouin light scattering (BLS) and microwave absorption (MA) are used to study magnon-photon coupling in a system consisting of a split-ring microwave resonator and a yttrium iron garnet (YIG) film.

Split ring resonator resonance assisted terahertz antennas

open access: yes, 2016
We report on the computational development of novel architectures of low impedance broadband antennas, for efficient detection of Terahertz (THz) frequency beams. The conceived Split Ring Resonator Resonance Assisted (SRR RA) antennas are based on both a capacitive and inductive scheme, exploiting a 200 Ohm and 400 Ohm impedance, respectively. Moreover,

Magnetic and electric excitations in split ring resonators

open access: yesOptics Express, 2007
We studied the electric and magnetic resonance of U-shaped SRRs. We showed that higher order excitation modes exist in both of the electric and magnetic resonances. The nodes in the current distribution were found for all the resonance modes. It turns out that the magnetic resonances are the modes with odd-number of half-wavelength of the current wave,
