Prediction of Flowfield and Acoustic Signature of a Split-type Air Conditioner

International Journal of Ventilation, 2009
Abstract The fan is one of the major noise sources of an air conditioner. Because of the presence of other components in the fan assembly, such as the bell-mouth, outlet grille and compressor chamber, the ingested and discharged flow fields around the fan impellers are distinctly different from those in a free field.

Experimental study on the effect of the split-type air-conditioner on the transmission of smoking pollutants in a room

Journal of the Air & Waste Management Association, 2022
Environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) has become one of the most important sources of indoor air pollution. The study aimed to obtain the variation characteristics of typical air pollutant concentrations when people smoke in a closed room and explore the effect of the air-conditioner.

On similitude of the cross flow fan in a split-type air-conditioner

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2008
Cross flow fans (CFFs) have been used in many industrial applications. Up to date, no complete similarity law has been available for designing the CFF. This study adopted the CFD method to simulate the internal flow field of the CFF. The problem taken into account in this paper was assumed to be two-dimensional. Two kinds of CFF construction, including

Thermoeconomic analysis and optimization of residential split-type air conditioners

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2013
Abstract A simulation-based optimization methodology for designing unitary residential air conditioners with focus on both energy performance enhancement and cost savings is presented. A steady-state system simulation model was put forward for a 2.5-ton nominal cooling capacity split-type air conditioning unit operating with R-410A as the working ...

Performance monitoring and prediction of a domestic split-type air conditioner

2017 International Conference on the Domestic Use of Energy (DUE), 2017
It has been very challenging to accurately monitor and predict the performance of air conditioners due to system operation complexity and huge number of already installed systems. This has made it cumbersome and somewhat difficult to accurately ascertain the effect of this technology on the grid, the amount of achievable energy savings, emission ...

Modeling of a split type air conditioner with integrated water heater

Energy Conversion and Management, 2007
Abstract This paper presents a steady state simulation model to predict the performance of a small split type air conditioner with integrated water heater. The mathematical model consists of submodels of system components such as evaporator, condenser, compressor, capillary tube, receiver and water heater.
