Fractured rocks containing infill materials are frequently encountered in engineering applications, and an understanding of dynamic characteristics is crucial for assessing stability and preventing disasters in rock engineering projects. The novel feature of this paper is that a dynamic constitutive model of fractured rocks with fillings is proposed to

Exceptional mechanical stability of refractory multi‐principal element alloy (RMPEA) across various strain‐rates and temperature is studied through multiscale experiments coupled with theoretical calculations. This stability originates from competition between twinning and adiabatic heating during dynamic deformation, contributed from severe lattice ...

This article presents the results of dynamic tests of sandstone samples differing in strength parameters and porosity, which were carried out with the use of the split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB). For this study, three types of sandstones were considered: two from the region of India (Kandla Grey and Apricot Pink) and one from Central Europe (Barwald)

A review of multiscale numerical modeling of rock mechanics and rock engineering
Multiscale numerical methods of rock mechanics and rock engineering are reviewed, and the review results show that more attention should be paid to the development of an advanced constitutive model in addition to numerical techniques themselves. Abstract Rock is geometrically and mechanically multiscale in nature, and the traditional phenomenological ...

Dynamic Compression of a Brittle Spherical Specimen
The dynamic compression process of a spherical specimen made of a brittle material in the split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) is described. The aim of the present paper is to determine the stress distribution over a spherical surface as a result of ...
