Optimal power split ratio for autobalanced photodetection

Applied Optics, 2014
The noise suppression of the autobalanced photoreceiver devised by Hobbs [Proc. SPIE1376, 216 (1990)] had been determined to depend on the photocurrent ratio of reference beam to signal beam under the condition of constant signal beam photocurrent, and the best noise cancellation was suggested at a ratio close to 2.

Optical fiber power-splitter with selectable splitting ratio

Applied Optics, 1982
An optical fiber power-splitter using a thin phase grating is described. Special attention is paid to the wave-length dependency, the insertion loss, and the splitting ratio. By feedback of the output signal, a variety of splitting ratios can be obtained despite the use of a very simple (but highly efficient) grating with a low splitting factor ...

Adiabatic Coupler With Design-Intended Splitting Ratio

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2019
We demonstrate adiabatic couplers (ADCs) with design-intended splitting ratios (SRs) for the silicon-on-insulator (SOI) platform. The operational principle, numerical simulations, and experimental results on the designed ADC are presented. In the operational principle, we derive the analytical relationship between the SR and the effective index ...

Strehl Ratio Split for Production—Limited Optics

Applied Optics, 1997
A Strehl Ratio (SR) decomposition for diffraction limited optics is proposed leading to a criterion of SR ≥ 97% for perfect—production optics.

Optimal Cross-Validation Split Ratio: Experimental Investigation

1998
Cross-validation is a widespread method for assessing the generalisation ability of a model in order to tune a regularisation parameter or other hyper-parameters of a learning process. The use of cross-validation requires to set yet an additional parameter, the split ratio. Few texts have investigated theoretically the asymptotic setting of this ratio,

Optimal split ratio for high speed induction machines

2010 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, 2010
The split ratio of several types of electrical machines has been identified as an important optimisation parameter. While the optimisation of split ratio in high-speed permanent magnet, switched reluctance and flux-switching machines has been researched, this parameter has often been neglected in the design of high-speed induction machines.

Power split transmission with continuously variable planetary ratio

Mechanism and Machine Theory, 2019
Abstract The key component of a power split transmission is the planetary gear train that is used to split the input power into two power flows. The transmission characteristic of the planetary gear train is strictly related to a parameter, namely, the planetary ratio whose value is constant.

Variable acquisition/communication split ratio for lasercom terminals

SPIE Proceedings, 2015
In a lasercom terminal with co-operative acquisition and tracking, it is desirable to be able to devote all of the received power to the acquisition function while the link is being established and then switch most or all of the power to the tracking and communication functions for link operation.

Multimode interference couplers with tunable power splitting ratios

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2001
New, compact multimode interference couplers with tunable power splitting ratios have been realized. Experiments show large tuning ranges. Such couplers are needed to optimize ON-OFF ratios in interferometric devices and may find applications as extremely compact switches.

Split injection into a capillary column at very low split ratios

Journal of Chromatography A, 1991
Abstract The solute zone in the inlet liner of a split injector at very low split ratios are split because of significant differences between the mean linear velocities in the capillary and in the liner. As the frontal part of the split zone of the solute moves through the liner with a velocity comparable with that in the capillary, radial diffusion ...
