Energy efficiency analysis of next-generation passive optical network (NG-PON) technologies in a major city network [PDF]
Ever-increasing bandwidth demands associated with mobile backhaul, content-rich services and the convergence of residential and business access will drive the need for next-generation passive optical networks (NG-PONs) in the long term. At the same time,

Compact multimode interference couplers with arbitrary power splitting ratio
We show that it is possible to obtain 2 x 2 waveguide couplers with arbitrary power splitting ratios by interconnecting a pair of unequal width waveguides as the phase-tuning section into the middle of two short MMI sections. These couplers have simple geometry and low loss.

ABSTRACT Background Kaposiform lymphangiomatosis (KLA) is an aggressive complex lymphatic anomaly. Patients exhibit malformed lymphatic vessels and often develop hemorrhagic effusions and elevated angiopoietin‐2 (Ang‐2) levels. A somatic NRAS p.Q61R (NRASQ61R) mutation has been associated with KLA.

In the waste heat recovery of the internal combustion engine (ICE), the transcritical CO2 power cycle still faces the high operation pressure and difficulty in condensation. To overcome these challenges, CO2 is mixed with organic fluids to form zeotropic

Measuring velocity ratios with correlation functions
We show how to determine the ratio of the transverse velocity of a source to the velocity of emitted particles, using split-bin correlation functions. The technique is to measure $S_2$ and $S_2^{\phi}$, subtract the contributions from the single-particle

Sex investment ratios in eusocial Hymenoptera support inclusive fitness theory [PDF]
Inclusive fitness theory predicts that sex investment ratios in eusocial Hymenoptera are a function of the relatedness asymmetry (relative relatedness to females and males) of the individuals controlling sex allocation. In monogynous ants (with one queen

ABSTRACT Purpose Pediatric central nervous system (CNS) tumors often recur despite multimodality therapy. Although re‐irradiation (re‐RT) has historically been limited by concerns for severe late toxicities, modern techniques have renewed interest in this approach. Proton therapy provides dosimetric advantages that may enable curative re‐treatment with

ABSTRACT Background Survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) often exhibit early deficits in muscle and movement competence, which can compromise long‐term health. Integrative neuromuscular training (INT), a multifaceted approach combining fundamental movement activities with strength exercises, may help address these deficits during ...

The beam splitter is a common and critical element in optical systems. Traditional beam splitters composed of prisms or wave plates are difficult to be applied to miniaturized optical systems because they are bulky and heavy.
