Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Circularly Polarized Split Ring Resonator Loaded Slot Antenna

open access: yesAdvanced Electromagnetics, 2018
A compact circularly polarized printed slot antenna operating at 2.45 GHz is reported. The antenna consists of a pair of rotated square split ring resonators (SRR) inside a rectangular slot etched on the ground plane of an FR-4 dielectric substrate.

Twisted split-ring-resonator photonic metamaterial with huge optical activity

open access: yes, 2010
Coupled split-ring-resonator metamaterials have previously been shown to exhibit large coupling effects, which are a prerequisite for obtaining large effective optical activity.

A miniature fractal-based dual-mode dual-band microstrip bandpass filter design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, a fractal-based complementary split-ring resonator (CSRR) has been introduced as a defected ground structure (DGS) in the ground plane of a dual-mode microstrip bandpass filter to produce a new compact filter with dual-band response.

The Role of Asymmetry on the Resonances of Conjoined Split-Ring Resonators

open access: yesSymmetry
The conjoined split-ring resonator (Co-SRR) is proposed as the unit cell to construct terahertz (THz) metamaterial. The size and position of the gaps on both sides of the structure were adjusted, and the impact on the electromagnetic response to the incident THz wave was investigated via simulation.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Planar Resonators for Metamaterials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents the results of an investigation into a combination of electric and magnetic planar resonators in order to design the building element of a volumetric metamaterial showing simultaneously negative electric and magnetic polarizabilities ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Lagrange Model for the Chiral Optical Properties of Stereometamaterials

open access: yes, 2010
We employ a general Lagrange model to describe the chiral optical properties of stereometamaterials. We derive the elliptical eigenstates of a twisted stacked split-ring resonator, taking phase retardation into account. Through this approach, we obtain a

Enhancing the selectivity of frequency selective surfaces for terahertz sensing applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper introduces a new technique for enhancing the selectivity (or the quality factor, Q-factor) of frequency selective surfaces (FSS) for sensing applications.
