Distributed Interior-point Method for Loosely Coupled Problems

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, we put forth distributed algorithms for solving loosely coupled unconstrained and constrained optimization problems. Such problems are usually solved using algorithms that are based on a combination of decomposition and first order methods.

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

An Implementation, Empirical Evaluation and Proposed Improvement for Bidirectional Splitting Method for Argumentation Frameworks under Stable Semantics

open access: yes, 2018
argumentation frameworks are formal systems that facilitate obtaining conclusions from non-monotonic knowledge systems. Within such a system, an argumentation semantics is defined as a set of arguments with some desired qualities, for example, that the ...

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

The HSS splitting hierarchical identification algorithms for solving the Sylvester matrix equation

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
By combining the hierarchical identification principle with HSS splitting, we presented the HSS splitting hierarchical identification algorithm for solving the Sylvester matrix equation in this paper. To enhance the convergence rate of the algorithm, the

Design of quasi-symplectic propagators for Langevin dynamics

open access: yes, 2007
A vector field splitting approach is discussed for the systematic derivation of numerical propagators for deterministic dynamics. Based on the formalism, a class of numerical integrators for Langevin dynamics are presented for single and multiple ...

Algorithm for split variational inequality, split equilibrium problem and split common fixed point problem

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics, 2022
<p>The main aim of this manuscript is to work on the split equilibrium problem with the combined results of the fixed point problem and split variational inequality problem. This paper is an extension of the recent work of Lohawech et al. We proposed a sequence that converges weakly to the common solution of all the three problems

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...

Workflow Scheduling in the Cloud With Weighted Upward-Rank Priority Scheme Using Random Walk and Uniform Spare Budget Splitting

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
We study a difficult problem of how to schedule complex workflows with precedence constraints under a limited budget in the cloud environment. We first formulate the scheduling problem as an integer programming problem, which can be optimized and used as

A Comparison of Discrete Schemes for Numerical Solution of Parabolic Problems with Fractional Power Elliptic Operators

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
The main aim of this article is to analyze the efficiency of general solvers for parabolic problems with fractional power elliptic operators. Such discrete schemes can be used in the cases of non-constant elliptic operators, non-uniform space meshes and ...
