Swelling‐Programmed Topographical Guidance for Dynamic Spheroid Self‐Assembly via a Mechanochemical Hydrogel Niche

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A swelling‐programmed micropatterned hydrogel guides adherent cells through a controlled transition from cell–matrix anchoring to cadherin‐mediated cell–cell compaction, enabling rapid assembly of high‐viability spheroids with defined size and morphology.

Spontaneous closure of large base idiopathic full thickness macular hole

open access: yes, 2018
Spontaneous closure of idiopathic full thickness macular hole is a rare case as it occurs in only 3.5% while awaiting vitrectomy surgery. There are few pathologies associated with it such as vitreomacular traction (VMT) and posterior vitreous detachment.

Bilateral, spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhoea: endoscopic, uninasal, trans-septal approach for simultaneous closure

open access: yes, 2011
Background:Bilateral, spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhoea is extremely rare, with only one previous case report (this patient developed contralateral cerebrospinal fluid leakage four years after successful endoscopic repair). We present the first

Tissue‐Stimulator Platform for Electrically Stimulating Pancreatic β‐Cells for Long‐Term Functional Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a tissue‐stimulator platform for seamless electrode integration with pancreatic tissue, applying uniform electrical stimulation through optimized design with biohybrid 3D printing. Advantageous effects of electrical stimulation on β‐cell function were observed, including enhanced calcium signaling, islet morphology, and maturation.

OBSERVATION VS. SURGERY IN TRAUMATIC MACULAR HOLE: A CASE REPORT HIGHLIGHTING FUNCTIONAL OUTCOME

open access: yesIJRETINA (International Journal of Retina)
Introduction: Traumatic macular hole (TMH) is a rare consequence of blunt ocular trauma, often leading to visual impairment. While spontaneous closure is possible, the decision between observation and surgical intervention remains debated. Case Report:

Spatially Modulated Morphotropic Phase Boundaries in a Compressively Strained Multiferroic Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The coexisting rhombohedral‐like (R′, MA) and tetragonal‐like (T′, MC) monoclinic phases in compressively strained bismuth ferrite thin films exhibit exceptional piezoelectric and magnetic properties. While previous studies have largely focused on probing the morphotropic phase boundaries (MPBs) comprising ordered R′/T′ twins, their self ...

Does fecal diversion offer any chance for spontaneous closure of the radiation-induced rectovaginal fistula?

open access: yes, 2008
Analysis of the clinical course of patients with postirradiation rectovaginal fistula after fecal diversion. The studied group included 17 women with postirradiation rectovaginal fistula who underwent fecal diversion as a sole mode of treatment, between ...

Intrinsic Photoactive Star ZnPc–Poly(glutamate) Nanoplatforms for Multimodal Glioblastoma Therapy and Brain‐Targeted Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An intrinsic photoactive star‐shaped zinc phtalocyanine‐poly(L‐glutamic acid) (ZnPc‐PGA) nanoplatform for multimodal glioblastoma (GBM) therapy and brain‐targeted elivery. A ZnPc‐PGA‐based multifunctional theranostic nanocarrier platform enables image‐guided, multimodal GBM therapy. ZnPc‐PGA nanocarriers support the integration of fluorescence imaging,

Bilateral Simultaneous Full-Thickness Macular Holes: A Case Report with Spontaneous Resolution

open access: yesReports
Background and Clinical Significance: Full-thickness macular hole (FTMH) is a common retinal condition that impairs detailed vision, with idiopathic causes being the most prevalent. Small macular holes (
