Designing Polymer Nanocomposites for X‐Ray Shielding: Mechanisms, Architectures, and Scalable Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights advances in lightweight, lead‐free polymer nanocomposites for diagnostic X‐ray shielding. By linking filler chemistry, dispersion, architecture, and photon interaction mechanisms, it establishes structure–performance relationships guiding material design.

Classics: on the spontaneous fission of uranium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Our choice for the Classics section is the paper by Chatterjee and Sarkar, describing their measurement of the lifetime for uranium to undergo spontaneous fission.

Fission Xenon Dating [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
A new dating method has been developed which uses fission product xenon in a manner similar to radiogenic argon in the 40Ar - 39Ar method. Measurable quantities of spontaneous fission xenon accumulate with time in rocks and minerals containing ...

The emission of prompt neutrons from the spontaneous fission of [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The neutron detector with 3He -filled counters placed in the focal plane of the VASSILISSA separator is used for measuring the average number and determining the multiplicity distribution of prompt neutrons from the spontaneous fission of heavy short ...

TDP‐43 Aggregation: The Healthy‐Toxic Balance of the Prion‐Like Domain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TDP‐43 function relies on a delicate balance between reversible phase‐separated states and irreversible aggregation. Under physiological conditions, TDP‐43 forms dynamic droplets and oligomers that support normal cellular functions. In pathological contexts, this balance shifts toward aberrant aggregation, leading to toxic species.

Biomodal spontaneous fission [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Investigations of mass and kinetic-energy distributions from spontaneous fission have been extended in recent years to an isotope of element 104 and, for half-lives, to an isotope of element 108.

Measurement Of The Spontaneous-fission Disintegration Constant Of 238u [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Large-area muscovite mica foils, previously treated thermally, prepared and chemically pre-etched in HF, were exposed in juxtaposition to uranium cylinders (U3O8 density 7.16 g cm-3; 3.3 cm in diameter and 4.0 cm in height), for 0.525 yr.

STATE DEPENDENT δ-PAIRING AND SPONTANEOUS FISSION [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics E, 2004
We examine the fission barriers, mass parameters and spontaneous fission half lives of Fermium isotopes within the framework of the macroscopic-microscopic model with a δ-pairing interaction. Four different macroscopic models are applied and studied.
