Combined spontaneous symmetry-breaking and symmetry-protected topological order from cluster charge interactions

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
The study of symmetry-protected topological states in the presence of electron correlations has recently aroused great interest as rich and exotic phenomena can emerge.

Spontaneous Emergence of Spatio-Temporal Order in Class 4 Automata

open access: yes, 2005
We report surprisingly regular behaviors observed for a class 4 cellular automaton, the totalistic rule 20: starting from disordered initial configurations the automaton produces patterns which are periodic not only in time but also in space. This is the

A HAYEKIAN VIEW ON EUROPEAN UNION [PDF]

open access: yesCES Working Papers, 2010
The aim of this paper is to develop some general Hayek’s ideas on the European project. Hayek demonstrated and analyzed the presence of two types of social order - a spontaneous order and a built one.

Spontaneous R-Symmetry Breaking in O'Raifeartaigh Models

open access: yes, 2012
We study the question of whether spontaneous U(1)_R breaking can occur in O'Raifeartaigh-type models of spontaneous supersymmetry breaking. We show that in order for it to occur, there must be a field in the theory with R-charge different from 0 or 2. We

Spontaneous Hall effect in chiral p-wave superconductor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
In a chiral superconductor with broken time-reversal symmetry a ``spontaneous Hall effect'' may be observed. We analyze this phenomenon by taking into account the surface properties of a chiral superconductor.

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

An Essay on Adaptive Development

open access: yesMises, 2019
Development theory and practice need a new approach that, more than pointing out institutions to be improved, unveils the underlying mechanisms of path dependent processes of underdevelopment.

Spontaneous mass current and textures of p-wave superfluids of trapped Fermionic atom gases at rest and under rotation

open access: yes, 2008
It is found theoretically based on the Ginzburg-Landau framework that p-wave superfluids of neutral atom gases in three dimension harmonic traps exhibit spontaneous mass current at rest, whose direction depends on trap geometry.

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Spontaneous CP Violation in SUSY SO(10)

open access: yes, 2007
A scenario is suggested for spontaneous CP violation in non-SUSY and SUSY- SO(10). The idea is to have a scalar potential which generates spontaneously a phase, at the high scale, in the VEV that gives a mass to the RH neutrinos.
