Atom-mediated spontaneous parametric down-conversion in periodic waveguides [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2017
We propose the concept of atom-mediated spontaneous parametric down-conversion, in which photon-pair generation can take place only in the presence of a single two-level emitter, relying on the bandgap evanescent modes of a nonlinear periodic waveguide.

Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

Local Realistic Interpretation of Entangled Photon Pairs in the Weyl-Wigner Formalism

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2020
A polarization correlation experiment with two maximally entangled photons created by spontaneous parametric down-conversion is studied in the Weyl-Wigner formalism, that reproduces the quantum predictions.

Spontaneous parametric down-conversion in chirped, aperiodically-poled crystals [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Quantum Information, 2015
We present a theoretical analysis of the process of spontaneous parametric down conversion (SPDC) in a nonlinear crystal characterized by a linearly-chirped χ(2) grating along the direction of propagation. Our analysis leads to an expression for the joint spectral amplitude, based on which we can derive various spectral–temporal properties of the ...

Investigation of Oxygen‐Free Wetting Behavior of Aluminum on Copper via Molecular Dynamics Simulations and Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The wettability of aluminum droplets (Al) on different copper substrates (Cu), where liquid Al spreads on solid Cu surfaces to form a liquid–solid interface, is studied numerically and experimentally. The experimental and numerical results show good agreement in the fast‐spreading regime.

Heralded amplification of nonlocality via entanglement swapping

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2020
To observe the loophole-free violation of the Clauser–Horne–Shimony–Holt (CHSH) inequality between distant two parties, i.e. the CHSH value $S\gt 2$ , the main limitation of distance stems from the loss in the transmission channel.

Impact of Sustainable Binders Based on Lignin and Collagen on the Volume Stability and Mechanical Properties of MgO‐C Refractories with MgO‐C Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.

Generation of single-photon states with orbital angular momentum in the process of spontaneous parametric down-conversion in a cavity

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
We consider the generation of single-photon states with orbital angular momentum in the process of spontaneous parametric down-conversion in a nonlinear crystal placed in a cavity.

Anisotropically high entanglement of biphotons generated in spontaneous parametric down conversion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We show that the wave packet of a biphoton generated via spontaneous parametric down conversion is strongly anisotropic. Its anisotropic features manifest themselves very clearly in comparison of measurements performed in two different schemes: when the ...

Eliminating spectral distinguishability in ultrafast spontaneous parametric down-conversion [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2009
Generation of polarization-entangled photon pairs with a precise timing through down-conversion of femtosecond pulses is often faced with a degraded polarization entanglement quality. In a previous experiment we have shown that this degradation is induced by spectral distinguishability between the two decay paths, in accordance with theoretical ...
