BOTRYOPTERIS PINNULES WITH ABAXIAL SPORANGIA
American Journal of Botany, 1979Small sporangia borne abaxially on pinnules attached to Botryopteris foliar members are described from coal ball petrifactions of Early Pennsylvanian age. This is the first report of laminar sporangia in this genus. Sporangia are stalked and borne singly near lateral veins on Sphenopteris‐like pinnules.

Germination of the resistant sporangia of Coelomomyces psorophorae
Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 1972Abstract The resistant sporangia of the fungal parasite Coelomomyces psorophorae from the larvae of Culiseta inornata readily germinate after reaching a fully cleaved stage of development. The sporangium possesses an electron dense, highly alveolate, outer wall, and an electron transparent, inner wall.

Sporangia containing Spermatozoids in Ferns
Nature, 1933ALTHOUGH ferns have in a few instances shown some irregularities in the development of the haploid and diploid generation, such as appertain to apogamy and apospory, there has so far been little concrete evidence to homologise the sexual organs (or their content) with sporangia (or their spores) in ferns. The fact that spermatozoids have now been found

Photo-induction of sporangia in Pilobolus crystallinus
Mycologia, 1996The effects of light on sporangial produc- tion by Pilobolus crystallinus were studied using monochromatic light of three wavelengths and a wide variety of photon fluence rates and exposure durations. Plates of cultures grown for 9 d in dark- ness display ca. 1200 trophocysts, 40-90 very tall spo- rangiophores, and no sporangia.

DIMENSIONAL CORRELATIONS IN DEVELOPING SELAGINELLA SPORANGIA
American Journal of Botany, 1972With length of sporangia as a developmental index, the growth relationships of sporangia during differentiation were studied in strobili of Selaginella bigelovii . The strobili usually contain two rows of megasporangia and two rows of microsporangia with a mega‐ opposite a microsporangium at ...
