Transfer cells in Horneophyton lignieri illuminate the origin of vascular tissues in land plants
Summary Recent fossil discoveries and advances in plant phylogeny have renewed debate about the most recent common ancestor (MRCA) of land plants and the evolution of its fundamental organs and tissues. We re‐investigate the vascular system of Horneophyton lignieri, an exceptionally preserved Rhynie Chert fossil central to understanding early plant ...

Summary The Grant‐Stebbins model predicts that a plant species encountering different pollinators across its range may undergo local adaptation and, subsequently, ecological speciation. We tested whether this could explain the origin of Aeschynanthus acuminatus (Gesneriaceae), a species phylogenetically derived from sunbird specialist ancestors.

ABSTRACT The incidence of pests and diseases seriously impacts rice production, and NLR genes play a crucial role in the regulation of immune signalling in rice. Here, we identified an NLR gene OsRGA3 that positively regulates rice resistance to brown planthopper (BPH) and rice blast disease (RBD).

Assessment of Apple Blotch (Diplocarpon coronariae) Symptom Progression on Malus × domestica Leaves
ABSTRACT Apple blotch is a fungal disease of increasing importance in European apple cultivation. Infection by Diplocarpon coronariae leads to premature leaf abscission in summer, weakening tree vigour and exacerbating harvest losses. Developing resistant cultivars represents a promising preventive strategy.

ABSTRACT Development of Fusarium head blight (FHB)‐resistant winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties relies heavily on visual scoring for large‐scale field evaluations. However, visual assessment of FHB symptoms remains a bottleneck in FHB resistance breeding due to its inherent subjectivity. At a single‐spike scale under greenhouse conditions, a

The Lauxaniid fly Incurviseta cf. maculifrons (Malloch, 1925) is a locally abundant but poorly understood flower visitor in the Australian Alpine. We describe the flower visitation, pollen transport, pollen diet and mouthpart morphology of I. cf. maculifrons using field observations, pollen analyses and scanning electron microscopy. I. cf.
