Microbial β-Glucosidases: screening, characterization, cloning and applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Cellulose is the most abundant biomaterial in the biosphere and the major component of plant biomass. Cellulase is an enzymatic system required for conversion of renewable cellulose biomass into free sugar for subsequent use in different applications ...

Mitochondrial DNA Analysis of Sporothrix schenckii

open access: yesNippon Ishinkin Gakkai Zasshi, 2003
Restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) of clinical and environmental isolates of Sporothrix schenckii was investigated. Isolates of S. schenckii were classified into 24 mtDNA types (Types 1-24) based on mtDNA RFLP patterns with HaeIII and clustered into two major groups by phylogeny, Group A and Group B.

APPLICATION OF 6-NITROCOUMARIN AS A SUBSTRATE FOR THE FLUORESCENT DETECTION OF NITROREDUCTASE ACTIVITY IN Sporothrix schenckii

open access: yesRevista do Instituto de Medicina Tropical de São Paulo, 2013
Introduction Sporothrix schenckii is a thermal dimorphic pathogenic fungus causing a subcutaneous mycosis, sporotrichosis. Nitrocoumarin represents a fluorogenic substrate class where the microbial nitroreductase activity produces several derivatives ...

Sporotrichosis: The Significance of Variations in Morphology of Spores in the Tissues [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
The histopathological diagnosis of sporotrichosis is briefly reviewed. The primary lesion consists basically of pseudo-epitheliomatous hyperplasia of the epidermis, intra-epidermal micro-abscesses, a non-specific dermal infiltrate and granulomata ...

Sporotrichosis: an update on epidemiology, etiopathogenesis, laboratory and clinical therapeutics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In the late 90' s there was a change in both the route of transmission and the people at risk for sporotrichosis. This zoonotic cat-man alternative transmission route elicited changes in strategies to control the epidemic.

The Infection Returns: A Case of Pulmonary Sporotrichosis Relapse after Chemotherapy

open access: yesCase Reports in Medicine, 2018
Background. Pulmonary sporotrichosis is a rare disease caused by a dimorphic fungus, Sporothrix schenckii. It is rarely found in association with malignancy. We present a case of pulmonary sporotrichosis recurrence after chemotherapy.

Genetic diversity and molecular evolution of 3-carboxymuconate cyclase (Gp60–70), the major antigen in pathogenic Sporothrix species

open access: yesMycology
Sporotrichosis, a neglected tropical disease caused by Sporothrix species, is a growing concern, particularly due to the emergence of highly virulent, cat-transmitted S. brasiliensis.

Antagonism of Aspergillus terreus to Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
An Aspergillus terreus strain showed in vitro antagonistic activity against tha plant pathogens Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary. The interacton between A. terreus and sclerotia revealed that the mycoparasite sporulated abundantly on the sclerotial
