Minimum spouting velocity of conical spouted beds
The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1997AbstractExisting correlations for predicting minimum spouting velocity in conical spouted beds have been found to give poor agreement with available literature data. A new correlation has been developed based on literature data to give much better prediction of the minimum spouting velocity for both small and pilot‐scale conical‐spouted beds.

Prediction of minimum spouting velocity in spouted bed
Asia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2009AbstractMinimum spouting velocity was measured using different bed heights with six different particles. A statistical analysis of the reported correlations for minimum spouting velocity based on the present and literature data was made and the estimated.

The applicability of the spouted bed technique to drying of granular products that are too coarse to be readily fluidized was recognized in the early 1950s. The classic or conventional spouted bed is a cylindrical vessel with a conical bottom fitted with an inlet nozzle for introduction of the spouting air.

Spout diameters in full and half spouted beds
The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1998AbstractA fiber optic probe has been used to measure spout diameters in a half‐column and a full‐column based on the significantly higher counts of output electric pulses in the spout region than in the annulus. The flat wall of a semi‐cylindrical spouted bed column was found to cause considerable distortion of spout shapes which became approximately ...

Combustion and Flame, 1978
Abstract The use of spouted beds for burning poor fuels is explored both experimentally and theoretically, following previous work on burners with massive enthalpy recirculation. The spout passes through the combustion zone and becomes part of a toroidal vortex of the bed material which acts as an effective mobile heat exchanger between hot products ...

Minimum spouting velocity in multiple spouted beds
The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1994AbstractStudies have been carried out in multiple spouted beds having 2, 3 and 4 spout cells; different fluid inlet orifices and different solids have been used with air and water as spouting fluids. The minimum spouting velocities are measured for different bed depths.

Since the pioneering text by Mathur and Epstein over 35 years ago, much of the work on this subject has been extended or superseded, producing an enormous body of scattered literature. This edited volume unifies the subject, pulling material together and underpinning it with fundamental theory to produce the only complete, up-to-date reference on all ...

Study on characteristics of spouted bed dryer
Proceedings of the 2020 2nd International Conference on Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, 2020With the development of China's economy and science and technology, the equipment related to biomass drying has also been further upgraded. The small spouted bed biomass drying device is one of the important equipment. Its essence is the dryer, which works in a high temperature environment.

Exploring mechanism of spout deflection in a spout fluidized bed
Chemical Engineering Science, 2021Abstract Spout deflection has been widely encountered in spout fluidized beds and can seriously narrow the operating range of normal spouting. However, the underlying mechanism of spout deflection phenomenon remains unknown. In this study, two hypotheses are proposed to explain the spout deflection mechanisms in spout fluidized beds, and two virtual ...

Publisher Summary The full benefits of fluidization, although with coarse and uniform-sized particles, are not always realized because of the growth of large bubbles in the bed causing a tendency toward slugging. This limitation of fluidized beds can be overcome if the gas enters the bed through a small opening at the center of a conical base instead
