Hydrodynamic studies of spouted and spout-fluid beds
2009Hydrodynamic experiments were conducted in a three-dimensional spout-fluid bed with a specially designed conical distributor to supply the auxiliary air. The vessel used was a cylindrical column, 0.15 m in diameter and 1.05 m high fitted with an inlet orifice plate with a diameter of 19.1 mm.

Low temperature drying of pomace in spout and spout-fluid beds
Journal of Food Engineering, 2007The solid residue that originates from virgin olive oil production has a consistency that falls between a paste and a particulate solid, consists of two phases: the crushed olive kernel and the fruit pulp. The kernel particles can be used as high quality solid fuel, while oil can be extracted from the pulp residue.

Spouted bed and spout-fluid bed hydrodynamics in a 0.91 m diameter vessel
2010Experiments were conducted in a 0.91 m diameter half-cylindrical spouted bed/spout-fiuid bed column equipped with a 60° conical base and semi-circular inlet orifice diameters of 76 to 140 mm. Three particulate solid materials were studied: 3.25 mm polystyrene, 4.72 mm brown beans and 6.71 mm green peas.

Pressure drop in spouted beds.
2009The present work contains the result of an investigation on pressure drop in sprouted beds. Six inch columns with a 0.5" air inlet orifice were used during the course of the investigation. The spouting medium was air. The gas flow rates vary from 84 to 1077 pounds per hour per square foot of column cross section.

Heat transfer in spouted beds.
2009The transfer of heat from spouted beds to verticle 6-in. and 3-in. columns was investigated. The bed materials consisted of polyethylene, polystyrene, wheat, rice, millet, Timothy seeds and Ottowa sands. The effect of bed temperature, particle diameter, density and heat capacity, bed height, mass velocity of air and orifice diameter were investigated ...
