IMAGE ANALYSIS OF WATER–SENSITIVE CARDS FOR SPRAY COVERAGE EXPERIMENTS

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 2002
Water–sensitive papers can be useful spray droplet sampling devices provided that their limitations are taken into account. One of these limitations is that the color of the unstained areas on a water–sensitive paper changes as the distance between stains decreases.

The ‘Electrodyn’ sprayer: first studies of spray coverage in cotton

Crop Protection, 1982
Abstract A programme of investigation was started in mid-1977 in Spain into the performance of the ‘Electrodyn’ sprayer for the control of insect pests on cotton. The first stages of the programme, reported in this paper, evaluated the effect on spray deposition and distribution of emission height, speed of travel, wind speed, and position of the ...

Parameterization of the sea spray generation function with whitecap coverage

Acta Oceanologica Sinica, 2020
Sea spray droplets are produced by waves breaking on the sea surface, and they vary the transfer of energy between the atmosphere and ocean. The sea spray generation function (SSGF) is generally considered as a function of the initial radius of the spray droplets and the wind speed.

Effect of Air-jet Configuration on Spray Coverage in Vineyards

Biosystems Engineering, 2005
A new type of sprayer developed for orchard is being adapted for vine spraying. The technology uses vertical air sleeves, generating a two-dimensional horizontal air jet, to distribute spray droplets within the canopy. Three different configurations were tested to determine the combination which provides the most appropriate spray distribution within ...

Orchard Air-carrier Sprayer Application Accuracy and Spray Coverage Evaluations

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 1994
New York apples are annually threatened by a large number of pests. Air-carrier sprayers are generally used to apply materials to the trees to control these pests. Depending on the pest pressure and end use of the crop, four to eight different applications may be required during a growing season.

Surface coverage by impact of droplets from a monodisperse spray

Journal of Coatings Technology and Research, 2019
A novel pneumatic monodisperse spray was fabricated to validate the results of a probabilistic model and a stochastic model that were developed to predict surface area coverage of the monodisperse spray. Multiple droplets of a highly viscous 87 wt% aqueous glycerin solution were deposited on a flat, transparent, plexiglass substrate.

Spray Coverage of Potato Plants Using Various Types of Applicators

1999
Total coverage of potato plants with fungicide usually provides the best protection from disease. A technique has been developed to measure the spray coverage on plant leaves with the use of fluorescent dye, a CCD camera, and a computer with the appropriate software to determine area of coverage.

Reconsidering indoor residual spraying coverage targets: A retrospective analysis of high-resolution programmatic malaria control data

Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America
Significance Indoor residual spraying (IRS), which kills mosquitos by applying insecticide on the interior walls of structures, is an important malaria prevention method.
