A MOBILE SYSTEM FOR MEASURING SPRAY COVERAGE - BG1

Acta Horticulturae, 2001
A computerized Spraying Coverage Analysis system has been developed to assist researchers, instructors and farmers to measure the coverage efficiency of pesticide application machines and systems. The system is compact and mobile and intended to work in the field, connected electrically to a tractor, jeep or other agricultural vehicles, or, optionally,

CHARACTERIZATION OF HYDRAULIC NOZZLES FOR DROPLET SIZE AND SPRAY COVERAGE

Atomization and Sprays, 2012
Spray coverage specifications for commercially available nozzles could help applicators determine the optimal nozzles for effective control of insects, diseases, and weeds. Spray coverage and deposit density from seven types of nozzles at three different flow rates (0.76, 1.14, and 2.27 L min−1) and two target positions (0.50 and 0.70 m below the ...

Close-range air-assisted precision spot-spraying for robotic applications: Aerodynamics and spray coverage analysis

Biosystems Engineering, 2016
Orchards and grapevines are currently sprayed overall. Most bush and tree crop sprayers use airflow assistance which generates movements in canopy exposing both sides of the leaves to the spray. Also, large coherent vortices are formed further contributing to improved spray coverage. A new close-range air-assisted spot-spraying method for the selective

Sprayed Keratinocytes Suspensions Accelerates Epidermal Coverage in a Porcine Microwound Model

Journal of Burn Care & Rehabilitation, 2000
Keratinocyte suspensions can potentially treat a variety of epidermal defects, but the mechanism of action has not been fully determined. We developed a porcine model to study the effect of sprayed cell suspensions delivered on small wounds within a meshed autograft. Paired full-thickness surgically excised wounds were covered with a fully expanded 3:1

Physico‐chemical studies on agricultural sprays. VII—The visual assessment of spray coverage

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 1965
AbstractThe wetting ability of spray formulations is best assessed by a visual examination of the sprayed surfaces, but such a method is open to criticism in terms of observer bias and inaccuracy. By use of a panel of observers, the method has been examined to determine the magnitude of such errors and to find means of minimising them.Inexperienced ...

Does Spray Coverage Influence Fungicide Efficacy Against Dollar Spot?

Applied Turfgrass Science, 2007
Chlorothalonil and myclobutanil were applied separately to creeping bentgrass using two sets of nozzles: two low‐drift nozzles that provided incomplete coverage [Teejet Turbo Turfjet nozzle (1/4TTJ04‐VS) and the Raindrop RA‐4 nozzle (35654‐2)], and two nozzles that provided nearly complete coverage [XR Teejet flat fan nozzle (XR11004‐VS) and the Teejet

Spray Coverage Analysis Using a Hand-held Scanner

Transactions of the ASAE, 1993
Hand-held optical scanners provide a low-cost, portable means of digitizing spray-deposit patterns on water-sensitive and Kromekote spot cards. Software was developed to convert the image data to spot counts, sizes, and coverage information. Measurement errors due to spot size, contrast, and method of selecting intensity threshold were evaluated.

Parameterization of the sea spray generation function with whitecap coverage

Acta Oceanologica Sinica, 2020
Sea spray droplets are produced by waves breaking on the sea surface, and they vary the transfer of energy between the atmosphere and ocean. The sea spray generation function (SSGF) is generally considered as a function of the initial radius of the spray droplets and the wind speed.

Orchard Air-carrier Sprayer Application Accuracy and Spray Coverage Evaluations

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 1994
New York apples are annually threatened by a large number of pests. Air-carrier sprayers are generally used to apply materials to the trees to control these pests. Depending on the pest pressure and end use of the crop, four to eight different applications may be required during a growing season.

Effect of Air-jet Configuration on Spray Coverage in Vineyards

Biosystems Engineering, 2005
A new type of sprayer developed for orchard is being adapted for vine spraying. The technology uses vertical air sleeves, generating a two-dimensional horizontal air jet, to distribute spray droplets within the canopy. Three different configurations were tested to determine the combination which provides the most appropriate spray distribution within ...
