Intelligent sprayer enhances drift reduction: Wind condition correlation and comparative field study in ash tree applications

open access: yesSmart Agricultural Technology
Spray drift from pesticide applications poses serious risks to the environment, human health, and neighboring crops. This research evaluated and analyzed off-target spray drift reduction potentials of an axial-fan air-blast sprayer retrofitted with a ...

XDrift—An R package to simulate spatially explicit pesticide spray-drift exposure of non-target-species habitats at landscape scales

open access: yesSoftwareX, 2020
Authorization of pesticides in the European Union is based on a risk assessment that aims at prevention of unacceptable ecological effects. This ecological risk assessment increasingly requires data and tools to base informed decisions on a more ...

KNOWLEDGE ON ADJUVANT PROPERTIES, DISPOSAL OF PESTICIDERESIDUES AND SPRAY DRIFT OCCURRENCE IN THE STATE OF MATO GROSSO [PDF]

open access: yesEngenharia Agrícola, 2016
This paper aimed at investigating the knowledge level of people working on pesticide spraying activities concerning spray adjuvant properties, as well as collecting information on disposal locations for residues from internal spray tank cleaning, and ...

Influence of Broadcast Nozzle Design and Weed Density on Dicamba Plus Glyphosate Deposition, Coverage, and Efficacy in Dicamba-Resistant Soybean

open access: yesFrontiers in Agronomy, 2022
Dicamba injury to sensitive soybean and other broadleaf crops due to drift is a major issue. Dicamba label restrictions have been created to mitigate the off-target movement of dicamba.

Drift from orchard spraying

open access: yesProceedings of the New Zealand Plant Protection Conference, 1997
Research from 1989 to 1996 into drift from air blast orchard spraying, principally in kiwifruit blocks with live shelter, is reviewed. A mass balance study showed 96% of applied vinclozolin could be accounted for with 75% on the target crop, 19% on the ground or shelter and about 2% leaving the block as drift.

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Influence of speed and angle of spraying on area coverage and drift in the potato production [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Central European Agriculture
This study investigated the influence of travel speed (6 and 10 km/h) and spray angle (-30°, 0° and +30°) on leaf surface coverage (LSC), on the area not treated (drift) and on droplet size. The leaf surface coverage, size and number of droplets, as well

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Polymeric Drift Control Adjuvants for Agricultural Spraying [PDF]

open access: yesMacromolecular Chemistry and Physics, 2016
The movement of a pesticide or herbicide to an off‐target site during agricultural spraying can cause injury to wildlife, plants and contamination of surface water. This phenomenon is known as spray drift and can be controlled by spraying during favorable environmental conditions, and by using low drift nozzles and drift control adjuvants (DCAs ...

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.
