Modification of the CAB Model for Air-Assist Atomization of Food Sprays [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The Cascade Atomization and Drop Breakup (CAB) model has been originally developed for pressure atomizers. In this study, the CAB model is modified to accommodate the atomization of low-pressure, air-assist atomizers.

Cohort‐Scale Spatial Autocorrelation for Tumor Prediction in Mid‐Infrared Pathology and Spatial Biomarker Discovery Using MALDI Imaging Lipidomics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Computational annotation of various tissue types in heterogeneous samples such as colorectal cancer liver metastasis (CRLM) using spatial autocorrelation analysis on non‐destructive mid‐infrared (MIR) imaging data enabled correlative multimodal mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) for spatial investigation of lipid tumor marker candidates. The method can be

Spray field characteristics and the effect of spray-local exhaust ventilation on the control of high-temperature buoyant jets

open access: yesEnergy and Built Environment
Process equipment limitations resulted in constraints on the location of the exhaust hood, which in turn caused escape of high-temperature buoyant jets.

Smart Energy–Harvesting Coating for Moisture–Droplets Based on Ionic Diodes and Transistor–Like Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A smart power‐generating coating is developed to harvest energy from both ambient humidity and impacting liquid droplets. The integrated system delivers sustained open‐circuit voltages of 0.85 V from moisture and up to 36 V from droplets. Its scalable coating architecture enables a continuous power supply for low‐power electronic devices.

Selective Deposition of Charged Droplets for Programmable and Rewritable Printing of Patterned Microstructure Arrays

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A residual‐charge‐induced electric field control (SDREC) strategy enables the fabrication of patterned microstructure arrays with a resolution of 20 µm via the selective deposition of charged droplets. The resulting arrays exhibit reversible writing/erasing, optical encryption, and selective silver electrode formation, offering a versatile route to ...
