A dual tank precision sprayer to overcome antagonism of mixing dicamba and clethodim for control of volunteer corn in soybean

open access: yesAgricultural &Environmental Letters, Volume 11, Issue 1, June 2026.
Abstract The mixing of clethodim and dicamba in the same tank could lead to reduced grass weed control, suggesting antagonism. Recently commercialized precision dual tank sprayers can apply two herbicides simultaneously through different boom systems, which may reduce potential herbicide antagonism for effective grass weed control.

A method to estimate weed canopy coverage using Canopeo in soybean

open access: yesAgricultural &Environmental Letters, Volume 11, Issue 1, June 2026.
Abstract Weed growth measurements, such as weed population density and biomass, are valuable but often time‐consuming, labor intensive, and destructive to collect. This study evaluated an innovative method using Canopeo, a mobile application, for its ability to estimate weed canopy coverage and compare it to traditional measurements in soybean [Glycine

Performance of an S‐metolachlor capsule suspension for barnyardgrass control and crop tolerance in fenclorim‐treated rice

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Barnyardgrass [Echinochloa crus‐galli (L.) P. Beauv.] is the most problematic weed of delayed‐flooded rice (Oryza sativa L.) systems in the mid‐southern United States. Recent findings suggest that acetochlor can achieve effective barnyardgrass control in rice, but rice injury can occur with rainfall soon after application.

Sainfoin stand termination: Variable herbicide efficacy in field conditions

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Effective termination of perennial forage legumes is a critical step in a crop rotation system, particularly in arid and semi‐arid regions where soil moisture conservation and timely establishment of subsequent crops are essential. Sainfoin (Onobrychis viciifolia Scop.), a deep‐rooted, drought‐tolerant forage legume gaining renewed interest ...

Green foxtail (Setaria viridis) and puncturevine (Tribulus terrestris) control in imazamox‐, quizalofop‐, and nicosulfuron‐resistant grain sorghum in semiarid Central Great Plains

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Recent commercialization of herbicide‐resistant (HR) grain sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] hybrids, including iGrowth, DoubleTeam, and Inzen enables the use of imazamox, quizalofop, and nicosulfuron, respectively, for annual grass weed control.
