Chemical Profiling and Biological Activity of Copaiba Oil‐Resin Samples and Development of HPLC‐DAD Method for the Analysis of β‐Caryophyllene

open access: yesBiomedical Chromatography, Volume 40, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The Copaifera species are traditionally used for their anti‐inflammatory, antiseptic and healing properties. The objective of this study was to compare the chromatographic profiles of seven samples of copaiba oil‐resin with respect to chromatographic and physicochemical properties and to evaluate their biological activities.

Modeling the Probability of Tsunami Fire Ignition Based on Data From the 2011 Tohoku and 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquakes, With Recommendations to Reduce Emerging Fire Risk in Tsunami Vertical Evacuation Structures

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 5, Page 1116-1133, 25 April 2026.
ABSTRACT Recent tsunamigenic earthquakes in Japan have highlighted the emerging fire hazard triggered by tsunami inundation and its impact on tsunami vertical evacuation (TVE) structures. This new type of fire following earthquake, referred to as “tsunami fires,” may be a potential universal hazard that tsunami‐prone countries face; however, it has not

Common construction materials do not deter turtles from nesting in roadside habitat

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 3, April 2026.
We used a before‐during‐after study to evaluate rock rip‐rap at wetland crossings as a mitigation strategy to deter female turtles from nesting in unsafe roadside habitats. Although females did not nest in the rip‐rap, they continued to nest in roadside habitat, indicating the strategy was unsuccessful and required further research.

Evaluating the potential of RNA interference for control of striped cucumber beetle, Acalymma vittatum (Fabricius) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 4, Page 3591-3602, April 2026.
SCB has a robust RNAi response to injected dsRNA, but oral RNAi is less efficient. Nucleases do not appear to be responsible for the discrepancy, suggesting other factors are involved. Abstract BACKGROUND The striped cucumber beetle (SCB) is a serious pest of cucurbit crops, causing damage both by feeding on plants and by vectoring plant diseases ...

Optimization of Microfibrillated and Nanofibrillated Cellulose Coating to Improve Performance of Paperboard Intended for Food Packaging Applications

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, Volume 39, Issue 4, Page 351-366, April 2026.
This study aims to optimise the application methods of a biobased suspension of micro/nano cellulose fibrils from agro‐biomass subjected to high‐pressure homogenisation. Two methods were selected, bar coating (BC) and spray coating (SC), and were tested using an LF factorial design with 3 levels and 2 factors.
