This chapter describes past and present direct injection systems (DIS). The systems are structured into central (CDIS), boom section (BDIS) and nozzle injection systems (NDIS). A major motivation to develop DIS is to extend the flexibility of applying different pesticides, to advance precision of application , and to enhance the operator comfort and ...

ABSTRACT AN experimental sprayer that can surround a tree with spray was developed for use with a self-propelled base unit. Pesticides are metered with variable-displacement metering pumps at the proper rate regardless of travel speed and are mixed with water in-line to the nozzles. Sprays are protected from wind by sheet metal on the base unit and are

CORROSION IN AGRICULTURAL SPRAYERS
Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, 1956Corrosion does not, perhaps, worry the farmer as much as it does the chemical engineer, but it is, nevertheless, one of his problems. With the large‐scale use of chemicals in modern agriculture, the necessity to deal with it has become more and more evident. R. J.

Abstract : A sprayer of new design is described which utilizes a rotary-tube spraying principle. Droplets produced lie within more narrow size ranges compared to droplets produced by presently available rotary disc and pressure spray nozzles. The range of droplet sizes believed best for mosquito control was attained using diesel fuel as the test liquid.

Hydrodynamics of a centrifugal sprayer
Journal of Engineering Physics, 1986An asymptotic analysis is made of the flow of a film of an inviscid incompressible liquid in a centrifugal sprayer under high heads. The conditions under which the film turns through an angle ∼π along the surface of the sprayer are determined.

The application method and the volume of water associated with the application method influences the effectiveness of agrichemicals. We evaluated the effectiveness of chemigation, pivot-attached sprayer systems(PASS), and tractor-mounted sprayers for the applications of preemergence and postemergence herbicide and fungicide in peanut and for ...

Factors determining the design of tractor-mounted sprayer booms—sprayer nozzle characteristics
Journal of Agricultural Engineering Research, 1978Abstract The motion of a spray boom is a major source of variation in the distribution pattern of a sprayer. The motion is evaluated in terms of the vertical motion of the boom relative to the ground and the horizontal motion of the boom relative to the tractor.
