A Level-set Algorithm for Simulating Wildfire Spread
Level-set approaches are efficient and versatile methods for solving interface tracking problems and have been used in recent years to describe wildland fire propagation. Being based on an Eulerian description of the spread problem, their numerical implementation offers improved computational agility and better portability to parallel computing ...

Asynchronous glimpsing of speech: Spread of masking and task set-size [PDF]
Howard-Jones and Rosen [(1993). J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 93, 2915–2922] investigated the ability to integrate glimpses of speech that are separated in time and frequency using a “checkerboard” masker, with asynchronous amplitude modulation (AM) across frequency. Asynchronous glimpsing was demonstrated only for spectrally wide frequency bands. It is possible

Spreading speeds and spreading sets of reaction-diffusion equations
This paper deals with the large time dynamics of bounded solutions of reaction-diffusion equations with unbounded initial support in $\mathbb{R}^N$. We prove a variational formula for the spreading speeds in any direction, and we also describe the asymptotic shape of the level sets of the solutions at large time.

Tactical fixed job scheduling with spread-time constraints [PDF]
We address the tactical fixed job scheduling problem with spread-time constraints. In such a problem, there are a fixed number of classes of machines and a fixed number of groups of jobs.

Introduction to Mediumband Wireless Communication
The multipath is unavoidable in radio frequency (RF) wireless communication, and affects almost every element of the communication systems. The impact of multipath on the received signal depends on whether the delay spread (i.e., spread of time delays ...

Preventing the Spread of Pertussis in Pediatric Healthcare Settings [PDF]
The surge in pertussis incidence in recent years underscores a critical need for effective plans to prevent transmission in pediatric healthcare settings. Adolescents and adults are common sources of infection for unimmunized or incompletely immunized infants and children with waning immunity.

Search Algorithms for a System of Different Representatives of Subsets of a Finite Set
The paper considers various aspects and approaches regarding the search for a system of differenrt representatives (SDR) of subsets of a finite set. Algorithm 3 has been developed, which is an algorithmization of the search process for SDR on the basis ...

Affine sets arising from spreads [PDF]
Certain affine sets arising from spreads of the projective space [math] are investigated. The affine set arising from a Lüneburg spread is studied in detail.
