The Effects on Spring Wheat Yields
1988In this section we consider the effects of the same three climatic scenarios (a warm period, a cool period, and a “2 × CO2” climate) on spring wheat yields.

The Effects on Spring Wheat Production
1988In this section the impacts on a specific crop, spring wheat, are discussed. As noted previously (Section 1), spring wheat production is the major crop production activity in Saskatchewan and, therefore, is a logical choice for study in impact analyses related to the agricultural industry.

Wheat (various species of the genus Triticum) is a grass originating from the Levant area of the Middle East. However, only hexaploid common wheat (Triticum eastivum), and tetraploid durum wheat (Triticum turgidum ssp. durum) are presently cultivated worldwide. Not only is wheat an important crop today, it may well have influenced human history.

Genetics of leaf rust resistance in the spring wheats ‘Ivan’ and ‘Knudson’ spring wheat
Canadian Journal of Plant Pathology, 2006Leaf rust caused by Puccinia triticina is a common and widespread disease of wheat in North America and worldwide. Durable genetic resistance to leaf rust in wheat has been difficult to achieve, since the virulence of the leaf rust pathogen to specific leaf rust resistance genes in wheat is highly variable.

Milton is a new cultivar of hard red spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) developed by the Atlantic Advisory Committee on Cereals and Protein Crops. It is higher yielding than recommended cultivars in the Atlantic Provinces and is resistant to Erysiphe graminis in that area.

AC Gabriel is a medium maturing spring feed wheat (Triticum aestivum L. em. Thell.) with higher grain yield in Quebec but similar grain yield to the check cultivars in Atlantic Canada. It is moderately resistant to powdery mildew. The reaction of AC Gabriel to leaf and glume blotch and fusarium head blight was similar to that of the check cultivars ...

Registration of ‘Faller’ Spring Wheat
Journal of Plant Registrations, 2008‘Faller’ (Reg. No. CV‐1026, PI 648350) hard red spring wheat (HRSW) (Triticum aestivum L.) was developed at North Dakota State University (NDSU) and released by the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station (NDAES). Faller was derived from the ND2857/ND2814 cross made at NDSU in fall 1997. ND2857 (ND2709/ND688) is a hard red spring experimental line

Conquer, an orange wheat blossom midge (Sitodiplosis mosellana Gehin) resistant hard red spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), combines good agronomic performance with good resistance to leaf rust, stem rust, stripe rust, and common bunt. Conquer had similar maturity, acceptable straw strength, and higher test weight as compared with check cultivars ...
