Using machine learning techniques to evaluate the impact of future climate change on wheat yields in Xinjiang, China

open access: yesAgricultural Water Management
Understanding the impact of climate change on crop yields is critical to ensure global food sustainability. This study quantifies the spatiotemporal variation and trend changes in wheat yield from 1999 to 2018. Additionally, the impacts of climate change

The Transcription Factor FgSge1 Harnesses the SAGA Complex to Activate Mycotoxin Biosynthesis and Fungal Virulence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals the molecular mechanism by which the transcription factor FgSge1 regulates mycotoxin biosynthesis and virulence in Fusarium graminearum. FgSge1 binds to the TAARGTTT cis‐element, enabling self‐activation. It recruits the SAGA complex, promotes histone acetylation, and facilitates jet‐like chromatin remodeling, thereby activating ...

Reducing Nitrogen Fertilization Rate in Spring Wheat–Pea Rotation Sustains Spring Wheat Yield and Quality

open access: yesAgronomy
The reduced N fertilization rate and N supplied by pea (Pisum sativum L.) residue may sustain subsequent spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) growth, yield, and quality.

Effects of putrescine and low temperature on the apoplastic antioxidant enzymes in the leaves of two wheat cultivars

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2009
The effects of putrescine (a polyamine), low temperature and their combinations on the activities of apoplastic antioxidant enzymes were studied in the leaves of two wheat cultivars, winter (Dogu-88) and spring (Gerek-79). Fifteen-day-old wheat seedlings

The Maize ZmbHLH118 Transcription Factor Regulates Vacuolar Nitrate Loading by the NO3− Transporter ZmCLCa

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In maize, the bHLH transcription factor ZmbHLH118 directly binds to the promoter of ZmCLCa and inhibits its expression. Tonoplast‐localized ZmCLCa mediates NO3− influx into the vacuole to regulate intracellular NO3− homeostasis, modulating nitrate uptake and metabolism, plant growth, and grain yield.

ZSL Orchestrates Synaptonemal Complex Assembly as a Central Region Scaffold to Ensure Synapsis Fidelity and Crossover Control in Polyploid Meiosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A central molecular adaptor, ZSL, is identified that links transverse filaments ZYP1 to central element SCEP1/2 to drive synaptonemal complex assembly in Brassica napus. Loss of ZSL abolishes synaptonemal complex formation, disrupts meiotic chromosome segregation, and markedly increases crossovers, providing mechanistic insight into meiotic fidelity ...

Metarhizium anisopliae Mitigates the Phytotoxicity of Lead and Nanoplastics on Rice by Modifying Physiological, Transcriptomic, Metabolomic Activities, and Soil Microbiome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metarhizium anisopliae alleviates the phytotoxic effects of polyethylene nanoplastics (NP) and lead (Pb) in rice by decreasing Pb uptake, restoring antioxidant and hormonal equilibrium, and promoting growth. Additionally, the fungus modifies the rhizosphere microbiota, enhancing both contaminant tolerance and plant growth, thereby effectively ...

Nitrogen rate influences on protein concentration, yield, and NDVI in spring wheat following pea and cover crop mixture

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences & Environment
High‐protein wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) grain is useful for bread flour, and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) can be useful in predicting crop yields and assessing overall crop health in response to a wide variety of management systems ...
