Expansion of invasive carabids across elevation and habitats on sub‐Antarctic South Georgia
Two introduced carabid species have continued to expand their ranges on the sub‐Antarctic island of South Georgia over the past 10–15 years. The species have colonised inland valleys and are present across habitats but are more abundant in those with high vegetation cover. N‐mixture models revealed the optimal sampling method, intensity and habitat for

Earthworms, as ‘ecosystem engineers', play a crucial role in regulating ecosystem functions and shaping community structures. Due to climate change, earthworms face severe survival pressures and extinction risks. However, whether conservation efforts targeting aboveground biodiversity can cover the long‐neglected earthworm diversity remains unknown. To

The mitochondrial genome of the springtail Bourletiella arvalis (Symphypleona, Collembola)
The complete mitochondrial genome of the springtail Bourletiella arvalis (Fitch, 1863) is herein described and applied to a Bayesian phylogenetic analysis, inclusive of all the Collembola mitochondrial DNAs sequenced so far.

Arboviral diseases spread by Culicoides biting midges have been introduced into Europe by unknown means. A possible route is the carriage of midges with cut flowers shipped to flower markets. We sampled Culicoides in and around a cut flower farm in Kenya; midges were caught in the vicinity and a greenhouse, but not where flowers are processed.

Smart Skin Patterns Protect Springtails
Springtails, arthropods who live in soil, in decaying material, and on plants, have adapted to demanding conditions by evolving extremely effective and robust anti-adhesive skin patterns. However, details of these unique properties and their structural basis are still unknown. Here we demonstrate that collembolan skin can resist wetting by many organic

Among various insects collected on behalf of the Entomological Research Committee by Dr. R. W. Gray in Southern Nigeria, a large number of minute Collembola, all belonging to the same species, and taken at Benin City on June 9th, 1910, have been sent to me for identification.
