Repeated-Sprint and Effort Ability in Rugby League Players

open access: yes, 2011
The aim of this study was to (a) investigate the influence of tackling on repeated-sprint performance; (b) determine whether repeated-sprint ability (RSA) and repeatedeffort ability (REA) are 2 distinct qualities; and (c) assess the test-retest ...

Cumulative Social Disadvantage and Disease Activity in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis: A Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance Registry Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Social determinants of health (SDOH) contribute to juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) disparities, but most studies have assessed SDOH independently rather than cumulatively across individual, family, and neighborhood levels. Using a socioecological framework, we investigated the relationship among cumulative social disadvantage ...

Inter-individual variability in peripheral oxygen saturation and repeated sprint performance in hypoxia: an observational study of highly-trained subjects

open access: yesFrontiers in Sports and Active Living
Individual variations in peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2) during repeated sprints in hypoxia and their impact on exercise performance remain unclear despite fixed external hypoxic stimuli (inspired oxygen fraction: FiO2).

Effects of Causal Beliefs About Gout on Public Views About Gout Management: A Randomized Experimental Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Despite well‐described biologic causes, the public views unhealthy lifestyle choices as the primary cause of gout. This study investigated how causal beliefs about gout influence the public's views about its management. Methods In a randomized study, 201 members of the public viewed one of two 2‐minute videos about gout.

Safety of Prescription Nonsteroidal Anti‐inflammatory Drugs in Adults With Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Data From a Large Administrative Claims Cohort

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The concern that nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may precipitate flares of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has limited their use in managing musculoskeletal symptoms in those with IBD, but safety data are mixed. Methods This retrospective cohort study included patients with IBD aged at least 18 years from Optum's deidentified ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.
