Optimisation of Sprinting Performance in Running, Cycling and Speed Skating

Sports Medicine, 1994
Sprinting performances rely strongly on a fast acceleration at the start of a sprint and on the capacity to maintain a high velocity in the phase following the start. Simulations based on a model developed in which the generation of metabolic power is related to the mechanical destinations of power showed that for short-lasting sprinting events, the ...

Assessing Maximal Sprinting Speed in Highly Trained Young Soccer Players

International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance, 2012
The aim of the present study was to locate the fastest 10-m split time (Splitbest) over a 40-m sprint in relation to age and maximal sprint speed in highly trained young soccer players. Analyses were performed on 967 independent player sprints collected in 223 highly trained young football players (Under 12 to Under 18).

SPRINT: a signal processing ring network for high speed applications

1988., IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2003
The SPRINT system is a high-speed system designed to perform real-time signal processing which cannot be done on a single signal processing-chip. The advantages of using a ring network are given, and the major attributes of the system are highlighted. Attention is given to the system architecture and the basic system operation.

Pacing and Sprint Performance in Speed Skating During a Competitive Season

International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance, 2010
Purpose:This study assessed the effect of time spent in several race sectors (S) on finishing time and determined the variance in distribution of skating time and in total race time for official 1000-m sprint races conducted during a competitive season. Methods:Total race and sector times for the first 200 m (S1) and the following two 400-m laps (S2 and

Biomechanics: no force limit on greyhound sprint speed.

Nature, 2005
Maximum running speed is constrained by the speed at which the limbs can be swung forwards and backwards, and by the force they can withstand while in contact with the ground. Humans sprinting around banked bends change the duration of foot contact to spread the time over which the load is applied, thereby keeping the force on their legs constant.

Handedness and Footedness: Relations to Differences in Sprinting Speed and Multiple Sprints Performance in Prepubertal Boys

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 2011
Physical performance and movement skills are differentiated by brain hemispheric dominance. Relations of handedness and footedness to differences in sprint speed and multiple sprints performances were investigated in 362 prepubertal, male, novice wrestlers.

Support leg joint kinetic determinants of maximal speed sprint performance

Journal of Sports Sciences
This study aimed to comprehensively demonstrate support leg joint kinetic determinants of maximal speed sprint performance. Ground reaction forces and marker coordinates attached to the body were measured in the maximal speed phase from 44 male sprinters. Then, three-dimensional leg joint torque, angular velocity and power were calculated.

Evaluating sprinting speed in various directions

This study investigates maximal sprint speeds in forward, backward, and sideward directions among twelve local ranked male soccer players. Sprints were measured over 60 meters forward, and 40 meters each for backward and sideward, with speeds recorded using a radar system post a standardized warm-up; the sequence of trials was randomized.

Characteristics of speed development and sprint running

2010
