Afforestation of Lutz Spruce, Sitka Spruce, and Norway Spruce in the Vesteraalen Islands, Norway
1993Tree species from Alaska and Canada have been used for afforestation in northern Norway since the late 1920s. Afforestation projects were small in the beginning because the performance of foreign species far north of their natural range was unknown.

Inheritance of plastids in interspecific hybrids of blue spruce and white spruce
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1989Chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) was purified from blue spruce (Picea pungens Engelm.) and white spruce [P. glauca (Moench) Voss], and was digested with several different restriction endonucleases. Restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) were identified that differentiated the cpDNA of both species.

Natural hybridization between black spruce and red spruce
Molecular Ecology, 1997Using species‐specific random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers and morphological characters, natural hybridization between the closely related black spruce Picea mariana (Mill.) B.S.P. and red spruce P. rubens Sarg. was evaluated in natural populations from north‐eastern North America.

Spruce Budworm Control in a White Spruce Plantation, 1977
Insecticide and Acaricide Tests, 1978Abstract The test was designed to compare two experimental numbered compounds and a new formulation of Sevin to a standard formulation, Sevimol. Treatments were assigned randomly to three 30 x 30 ft plots marked out in the plantation. Treated plots were separated by 25 ft buffers.

COMPARATIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE KISLICHNY SPRUCE AND THE DOLGOMOSHNY SPRUCE
Materials of the All-Russian scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Professor Vladimir Ageevich Bugaev "Forestry, forest management, forest management in the 21st century: problems and solutions"Comparative data on the structure of the kislichny spruce and the Dolgomoshny spruce are present-ed. The objects of the study are located in the Prionezhsky forestry of the Republic of Karelia. The vegetation of the lower tiers was taken into account on circular accounting sites of 10 m2 each. It is shown that the average height and average diameter of

Spruce Beetle Effects on a White Spruce Stand in Alaska
Journal of Forestry, 1974Abstract A severe infestation of spruce beetle (Dendroctonus rufipennis Kby.) in a white spruce (Picea glauca [Moench] Voss)-paper birch (Betula papyrifera var.) stand caused 64.6 percent mortality of spruce 5 inches d.b.h. and larger where the infestation was completed. Survival of spruce was greater in smaller diameters.
