SAW velocity reduction and spurious modes suppression on the layer structure
Japanese Journal of Applied PhysicsAbstract This paper discusses the use of the layered structure for the SAW velocity reduction. First, it is shown that the insertion of SiO2 is crucial between the piezoelectric layer and the base substrate to keep a large electromechanical coupling factor even when the SAW velocity is reduced.

Spurious Mode Suppression in Quasioptical Waveguides by Lossy Dielectric Sidewall Coatings
1976 6th European Microwave Conference, 1976The use of lossy dielectric sidewall coatings for spurious Hm0 mode suppression in quasioptical waveguides is studied. It is discussed how to select permittivity, loss tangent, thickness and coating length. A resonance absorption occurs if the electrical thickness of the coating roughly equals ?/4.

The nature of spurious mode suppression in extended FSR microring multiplexers
Optics Communications, 2007A systematic approach to the design of extended free spectral range (FSR) series coupled microring multiplexers is described. The aim is to achieve large extension ratios and adequate suppression of the spurious interstitial modes, while moderating radiation enhancing ring diameter reduction as much as possible.
