Photothermal Boost of Laser‐Synthesized TiC Colloidal Variants with Engineered Solid‐State Interfaces and Nitridation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
TiC Colloidal variants are synthesized via a green and waste‐free laser fragmentation technique. The surface and elemental composition of the TiC colloids are tuned through laser‐induced carbon nucleation and nitridation while maintaining their crystal integrity. These changes maximize light–colloid interactions, thereby improving photo thermalization.

The 2D J_1-J_2 XY and XY-Ising Models

open access: yes, 1997
We consider the 2D $J_1-J_2$ classical XY model on a square lattice. In the frustrated phase corresponding to $J_2>J_1/2$, an Ising order parameter emerges by an ``order due to disorder'' effect. This leads to a discrete symmetry plus the O(2) global one.

Tuning the Surface State and Zeta Potential of Aged CuO Nanoparticles by Additive‐Free Surface Treatments as Guided by XPS

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Aging of CuO nanoparticles (NP) involves a surface reconstruction induced by hydroxylation and concurrent organic‐O adsorption, which introduces O defects in the NP subsurface region. The defective surface results in a diffuse surface space region, as reflected by a low ζ‐potential of the aged NPs in ethanol solvent.

Metastable Crystalline Cobalt Iron Oxide Nano‐Flakes with Antiferromagnetic/Ferrimagnetic Composition Mosaicity

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Through precursor co‐precipitation and mild calcination, a metastable interface‐rich cobalt iron oxide with unique magnetic properties was synthesized. Due to compression of the lattice parameter in the iron‐rich phase and the multitude of interfaces, an exchange bias was created, usually not known for such powder samples.

Quantum quench dynamics in the transverse-field Ising model: A numerical expansion in linked rectangular clusters

open access: yesSciPost Physics, 2020
We study quantum quenches in the transverse-field Ising model defined on different lattice geometries such as chains, two- and three-leg ladders, and two-dimensional square lattices.

Monte Carlo study of the antiferromagnetic three-state Potts model with staggered polarization field on the square lattice

open access: yes, 2006
Using the Wang-Landau Monte Carlo method, we study the antiferromagnetic (AF) three-state Potts model with a staggered polarization field on the square lattice.

Scalable Programming of LaAlO3/SrTiO3 Interfaces via Ultra‐Low‐Voltage Electron‐Beam Lithography

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Ultra‐low‐voltage electron beam lithography (ULV‐EBL) enables rapid and scalable patterning of LaAlO3/SrTiO3 interfaces into nanowires, barriers, and waveguides that reveal 1D superconductivity, nonlinear current‐voltage response, and ballistic transport.

Universal exotic dynamics in critical mesoscopic systems: Simulating the square root of Avogadro’s number of spins

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
We explicitly demonstrate the universality of critical dynamics through unprecedented large-scale Graphics Processing Units (GPU)-based simulations of two out-of-equilibrium processes, comparing the behavior of spin-1/2 Ising and spin-1 Blume-Capel ...

Refined Epitaxial Growth of YbRh2Si2 Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Epitaxial thin films of the heavy fermion compound YbRh2Si2 have opened new possibilities for investigating the strange metal state. This study enhances the crystallinity and surface smoothness of YbRh2Si2 thin films grown by molecular beam epitaxy.
