Computational simulation of heat transfer and nanofluid flow for two-sided lid-driven square cavity under the influence of magnetic field

open access: yesOpen Physics
The present study investigates the heat transfer for the unsteady, incompressible, two-dimensional mixed convective copper–water nanofluid flow in a lid-driven square cavity in the presence of the magnetic field.

Interferometric length metrology for the dimensional control of ultra-stable Ring Laser Gyroscopes

open access: yes, 2014
We present the experimental test of a method for controlling the absolute length of the diagonals of square ring laser gyroscopes. The purpose is to actively stabilize the ring cavity geometry and to enhance the rotation sensor stability in order to ...

Functional Materials for Environmental Energy Harvesting in Smart Agriculture via Triboelectric Nanogenerators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores functional and responsive materials for triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) in sustainable smart agriculture. It examines how particulate contamination and dirt affect charge transfer and efficiency. Environmental challenges and strategies to enhance durability and responsiveness are outlined, including active functional layers ...

Analyses of an Ultra-Wideband Absorber from UV-B to Middle-IR Utilizing a Square Nanopillar and a Square Hollow Embedded in a Square Cavity of the Top Layer of Multilayer Metamaterials

open access: yesPhotonics
In this study, an ultra-wideband absorber spanning from UV-B to middle-IR was designed and analyzed using a novel structure. The multilayer metamaterial, arranged from bottom to top, consisted of an Al metal layer, a lower SiO2 layer, a graphite layer ...

Unprecedented Spin‐Lifetime of Itinerant Electrons in Natural Graphite Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Graphite exhibits extraordinary spintronic potential, with electron spin lifetimes reaching 1,000 ns at room temperature ‐ over 100 times longer than graphene‐based devices. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy reveals strong anisotropy: out‐of‐plane spins live 50 times longer than their in‐plane counterparts.

Control of quality factor in laterally coupled vertical cavities

open access: yesIET Optoelectronics, 2020
In this work, the authors demonstrate the control of quality factor (Q‐factor) is laterally coupled vertical cavities. A 3 μm‐side‐length square cavity directly connected to a 1.5 μm‐width, 10 μm‐length Fabry–Perot (FP) cavity has been fabricated and ...

Low-threshold bistability of slow light in photonic-crystal waveguides

open access: yes, 2007
We analyze the resonant transmission of light through a photonic-crystal waveguide side coupled to a Kerr nonlinear cavity, and demonstrate how to design the structure geometry for achieving bistability and all-optical switching at ultra-low powers in ...

Analysis of the Electrochemical Stability of Sulfide Solid Electrolyte Dry Films for Improved Dry‐Processed Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An adapted processing for solvent‐free argyrodite solid electrolyte films based on insights into degradation mechanisms of the widely used binder polytetrafluoroethylene is presented. By adapting the dry film processing, long‐term cycling in Si||NMC pouch cells is demonstrated over more than 1000 cycles with a capacity retention of more than 80%, and ...
