A New 3D Colon on a Chip to Decipher the Influence of Mechanical Forces on the Physiological Cellular Ecosystem

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
To dissect how mechanical forces influence intestinal physiology, we developed a stretchable 3D colon‐on‐chip that integrates tunable topography, stiffness and peristalsis‐like motion within a physiologically relevant microenvironment. We showed that stretching is a dominant factor governing epithelial behavior, markedly enhancing proliferation and ...

Control-volume based Navier-Stokes equation solver valid at all flow velocities [PDF]

open access: yes
A control-volume based finite difference method to solve the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equations is presented. A pressure correction equation valid at all flow velocities and a pressure staggered grid layout are used in the method. Example problems

Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy in Bionanotechnology: Current Advances and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) enables the nanoscale mapping of electrostatic surface potentials. While widely applied in materials science, its use in biological systems remains emerging. This review presents recent advances in KPFM applied to biological samples and provides a critical perspective on current limitations and future directions for

Excited State Opto‐Ionic Reservoir Computing in Hybrid Perovskite Electrochemically‐Gated Luminescent Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A neuromorphic computing system exploiting opto‐ionic modulation in lead halide perovskite microcrystals demonstrates high‐dimensional reservoir dynamics with diffraction‐limited node resolution. Leveraging ultrafast excited‐state interactions, it achieves efficient computation (800 pJ/node‐operation), robustly distinguishing 4‐bit pulse sequences ...

A Cu‐Based Near‐IR Active MOF with an Ion‐Pair Guest Exhibiting Versatile and Selective Gas‐Solid Reactivity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The new Cu‐containing MOF (Me2NH2)(CuICl2)@[Cu4(INA)4Cl2O]·1.5dmf (3) contains a cation and an anion as guests and shows UV‐near‐mid‐IR absorption and near‐IR emission. MOF 3 shows gas‐solid reactivity in the presence of NH3 and HCOOH to yield two new 3D MOF.

Metasurface Design for Dual-Mode Sensors Based on Broken Symmetry Structure

open access: yesNanomaterials
Dual-mode sensors are currently facing difficulties in achieving independent sensing of parameters as well as low sensitivity. In this paper, we propose a dual-mode sensor using the finite element method (FEM) based on a coupled silver–PDMS–gold (SPG ...

Circularly Polarized Polariton Lasing from Spin‐Momentum Locking in Deformed Plasmonic Kagome Cavities

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This paper describes room‐temperature polariton lasing with high circular polarization from deformed plasmonic Kagome lattice cavities strongly coupled to colloidal CdSe nanoplatelets. Spin‐selectivity from cavity modes resulted in control over the handedness of circular polarization as well as the direction of polariton lasing, opening prospects for ...

Integrating Vibrio natriegens for Photon Manipulation in Living Lighting Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Rationalization of genetic and material engineering tools has enabled the engineering of fluorescent Vibrio natriegens (V. natriegens) to fabricate straightforward, highly emissive and stable V. natriegens‐silicones color filters for the first red‐emitting bacteria‐hybrid light‐emitting diodes. This pinpoints V. natriegens as a high‐performance protein
