Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

On the Parallelization of Square-Root Vélu’s Formulas

open access: yesMathematical and Computational Applications
A primary challenge in isogeny-based cryptography lies in the substantial computational cost associated to computing and evaluating prime-degree isogenies.

Approximating the principal matrix square root using some novel third-order iterative methods

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal, 2018
It is known that the matrix square root has a significant role in linear algebra computations arisen in engineering and sciences. Any matrix with no eigenvalues in R- has a unique square root for which every eigenvalue lies in the open right half-plane ...

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Non-Abelian Born-Infeld theory without the square root

open access: yes, 2005
A non-Abelian Born-Infeld theory is presented. The square root structure that characterizes the Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) action does not appear. The procedure is based on an Abelian theory proposed by Erwin Schr\"{o}dinger that, as he showed, is ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Comparison of Statistical Dynamical, Square Root and Ensemble Kalman Filters

open access: yesEntropy, 2008
We present a statistical dynamical Kalman filter and compare its performance to deterministic ensemble square root and stochastic ensemble Kalman filters for error covariance modeling with applications to data assimilation.

Existence and sharp localization in velocity of small-amplitude Boltzmann shocks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Using a weighted $H^s$-contraction mapping argument based on the macro-micro decomposition of Liu and Yu, we give an elementary proof of existence, with sharp rates of decay and distance from the Chapman--Enskog approximation, of small-amplitude shock ...
