Squeeze flow in thermoplastic composites
1999In order to permanently alter the shape of a thermoplastic composite, without degrading its material properties, it is necessary to heat the polymer matrix prior to forming. Crystalline and semicrystalline polymers must be completely melted to allow the long polymer chains to slide past one another.

Squeeze flow characterisation of thermoplastic polymer
Composite Structures, 2006Abstract New manufacturing concepts developed by the CRC-ACS involve co-curing a thermoplastic polymer layer onto the surface of a composite component. The layer can be reshaped to alter the dimensions of the laminate locally. A major physical phenomenon involved in these uses is squeeze flow of the thermoplastic polymer.

Squeezing Flow of Highly Viscous Polymers
Journal of Rheology, 1988Experimental results are reported for the constant‐force squeezing of three highly viscous polymers. Profiles for the plate separation versus time were measured with the use of a modified materials testing system. Two polybutenes were tested at 25 °C, and a low‐density polyethylene melt (IUPAC sample X) was studied at 150 °C.

A squeeze film flow processibility tester
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1994AbstractThe applicability of the squeeze film flow geometry in a processibility tester is investigated in this study. A prototype processibility tester has been built by retrofitting it to a servohydraulic load frame. Several processibility parameters such as viscosity and the elastic component in the melt have been investigated.

Electrorheological fluids in dynamic squeeze flow
ICDL'96. 12th International Conference on Conduction and Breakdown in Dielectric Liquids, 2002This paper is concerned with an experimental investigation of the performance of an ER fluid in oscillatory squeeze-flow and the development of a quasi-steady theoretical model in which the rheological behaviour of the fluid is assumed to follow a bi-viscous shear stress/shear rate characteristic.

Transient squeeze flow of viscoplastic materials
Journal of Non-Newtonian Fluid Mechanics, 2006The transient, axisymmetric squeezing of viscoplastic materials under creeping flow conditions is examined. The flow of the material even outside the disks is followed. Both cases of the disks moving with constant velocity or under constant force are studied.

Squeezing Flow of an Eyring Fluid
Journal of Tribology, 1997We seek to obtain a relation between the squeezing velocity and the compressive stress for the squeezing flow of a thin film Eyring fluid between two parallel rigid ...

The problem of the squeezing of a film of liquid between two parallel surfaces is considered. Approximate expressions are deduced for the instantaneous distribution of velocity within the fluid and the reaction on the surfaces. These are obtained by an approximate iterative solution of the continuity and momentum equations.
